According to an item Directorate of Immigration and Passports Islamabad which is a sub office of Ministry of the Interior has decided to hire the services of a private security agency to undertake the responsibilities hitherto given to the Police. Ministry of Defence of a country while is to defend the country against external threats the main role of a Ministry of the Interior is safeguard the country internally. For internal safeguarding this Ministry is the Supreme. If our Ministry of Interior cannot safeguard itself then one can well imagine how can it safeguard the life and property of people, sui installations and above all how safe is our climate as is claimed for foreign investment. We are privatizing everything in the name of bringing in efficiency and have also accepted our failure in safeguarding public by making private security companies a big business. Pressures by Deputy Commissioners on shop owners to keep private security guards on their shops is a big authenticated certificate o failure. Why should not we privatize the whole internal security of the country by asking foreign investors to bid for it including police. Elite police, this police and that police. It would not only increase our much trumphted reserve from 12 to 14 or 15 but would also many high expenses like bullet proof cars, private personal security guards.
Re: Privatisation of Ministry Interior will improve reserves to 15 Billion and save money
wo wow,, wait a second. highring a private security guards is not a taboo. actually its strange to see policeman sitting in every bank or on major supermarket. Plice is for policing not for watchmen.
so deputy commissioner are absolutely right, to advise shop oweners to have their own security guards. that happens everywhere. no country in the world can afford to have 2 policeman at everyother shop just to watch.
but instead they should increase police patrols, foot and mobile both so people will feel safe on the streets.
elite units are there for reason, they know what ordinary police cant manage. similarly for anit terrorism units.
