Is there a way to block a particular user from messaging u?

I think so, add the user to your ignore list by editing the buddy list:

Avoid blocking anything that starts with J and L, it causes system to fail.

Nope, i’ve blocked a few Ls (actually 3 ) **at one point or another **and it works pretty well
