Nowadays Eid normally ends after namaz and breakfast. Meeting friends and family happens in the evening therefore taking a day off is kind of pointless.
I agree not knowing the exact day of eid adds to the confusion in decision making process.
We need a change. Instead of waiting for the moon, god should arrange the stars in such a way that they read "As$holes, tomorrow is roza" or "Ulu kay patho kal eid mana lo". That would be convenient.
