Printer cartiges recommendation...

I’ve a canon pixma mm700 printer which uses 4 diff cartiges for color and black & white printing. I’ve almost run out of the ink in all four and looking for some cheaper solution. one of the things I came across was refilling the ink in the existing cartiges. it sounds kinda doable thing but is viable? has anyone tried refilling their cartiges that way? does it make any mess.

these days they have these chips on the cartiges which detect the levels of ink. if I refill my cartiges, won’t I also somehow need to “reset” those chips?

any experience, tips? Thanks.

Re: Printer cartiges recommendation...

yes it is doable. the only downside is that the printer warantee terms & conditions do not allow you to use refilled cartridges. If you are not bothered about that then go ahead.
As for the chip for ink level detection, it only detects the LEVEL of the ink. there is no COUNTER in it.

I’ve tried refilling my own cartridges but don’t feel too confident in doing it myself.

I ended up ordering cartiges at amazon.com – the total cost including s&h was around $20. Well worth it :k:

Re: Printer cartiges recommendation...

that's total of 4 cartiges. not bad at all. saves me refilling work.

Also, now they have separate cartridges for color instead of just one tri colored one. Make sure you depleted all of them. In the end, it actually ends up saving you money!

p.s. roman, take the 4 empty shells to Staples, they'll give you $12 in staples rewards!!!! Recycle please! Go Green, hari hari shaanti!

spoke, actually staples sends you a check at the end of the month so it’s not just ‘staples dollars’. :k:
