primolut N - delaying periods

Hi, has anyone used PRIMOLUT N? I was wondering whether anyone has used these pills, and what your experiences were with them? Did you experience any side effects? can they cause any problem in conceiving later? i’l be using them for the first time on my wedding and i am really confused if its safe or not  .. please help ..
Thanks

Re: primolut N - delaying periods

it's ok to use it..side effects occur with prolonged period of usage.it's all hormones that you are eating..effects vary person to person

Re: primolut N - delaying periods

Why would you want to use it?

Re: primolut N - delaying periods

why delay ure period just cuz ure getting married? usually wedding dates are given from the girl's side keeping her periods in mind but sometimes thats not possible due to variety of reasons (like trying to keep everyones schedules in mind and who can make it when)...

but i wouldnt disrupt my smooth cycle for a wedding.

Re: primolut N - delaying periods

thanks alot for replying ... actually its falling exactly on my wedding day .. was thinking it will be difficult to sit coz of severe cramps ... but m really confused to take it or not ... my mom took it during haj but she was 45+ ... but u r rite i shudnt disturb my hormones at this early age ... actually we decided the date abt 10 mths back ... wasnt pretty sure at tht time .. but now m thinking to take strong analgesics instead .. thanks once again ... love you all

:smack:

Actually, double :smack:

Zenia, pleasee don’t do anything. Let Mother Nature take control, you’ll be better off. I’m sure people can wait a few days. :halo:

Re: primolut N - delaying periods

Sahar02 - that was the first question that popped into my mind as well.

Ive never heard of taking something like this for a wedding...do desies do this? None of my sisters did.

Re: primolut N - delaying periods

well its horrible getting a period on ure big day.. its so uncomfy and imagine having to change ure pamper all dressed up cuz its the periods first day and u just happen to have a heavy flow.. and like the poster said.. she gets horrible cramps too... its all in all icky..

ps: i dont think its got anything to do with desi or non desi :)

to the poster: just remembered... a few friends of mine got their periods on their big days even though they werent due.. just outta sheer nervousness and stress their bodies let the flow go a few weeks early :D

but like u said.. just take a few pain killers and wear a maxi pad.. all the best.. inshallah it will go great!

Re: primolut N - delaying periods

khawateen, you got it exactly right :sweetu: … thanks a lot

thank you straight_up

Re: primolut N - delaying periods

You're doing the right thing Zenia...dont fool with Mother Nature, she gets even!!

I used Depo-Provera birth control for about 18 mos and it caused a 3 year battle with infertility which thankfully worked out...but these meds that mess with cycles can really mess things up over the long term.

I'm sure that these birth control meds have improved since the time I was taking them...and that it probably wouldnt be that harmful to delay one cycle for the sake of your wedding...but then again, why take chances yeah?

Well,I've never used any such tablets, but many of my friends have, and according to them,it is safe if you take such tablets sometimes only.but i believe you should better consult a doctor before taking any such tablets.

Thanks for your reply ... so the conclusion is its not worth the risk .. and congratulations on becoming a proud mother of three mashAllah .. God bless you!

Thank you shining_star .. i m a doctor .. i know the side effects but u know drug manufacturers are required to list all known side effects of their products and in pakistan people dont usually come for follow up ... everyone on gs is so helpful so i thought i shud ask if anyone has used it and their experience with it.

Re: primolut N - delaying periods

I remember people discussing with my khala that she should take something. I was young at the time, so I don't know if she did. I wouldn't take it for HIS sake. But some women get very severe period pain, and if you are concerned about that, I guess I understand. Still, there's no guarrantee that it won't cause pain along the way. If you think you can bear it, I'd avoid the meds.

Re: primolut N - delaying periods

yeah thanks sahar .. for his sake .. no way! … we r not getting married for 5 days .. m sure he can wait  .. i was just concerned about the pain coz i m almost half dead on my first day .. plus i was thinking it will be difficult to change pamper wearing that heavy lehnga and stuff .. anyway i’l definitely avoid it .. in the beginning i was little confused but now i am very clear .. thanks to gs .. seriously!

Re: primolut N - delaying periods

many happy wishes to you for a lifetime of happiness! And please post some pics!! I just LOVe weddings!! Blessings and abundance to you and your hubby! :)

Re: primolut N - delaying periods

thanks a lot :) ... yeah i will inshAllah ..

In addition to ur question, I have one more question.

If we take Primolut N and have unprotected intercourse, will it lead to pregnancy?

Can anyone please reply to this? Thanks...

Re: primolut N - delaying periods

I used to think it was about the wedding night but really..you feel so disgusting during your period, esp if it happens to fall on the heaviest day. what if you or your in laws get you a light-colored lengha? more stress. and yeah the night (sleeping!) can be quite uncomfortable too, esp if ure with someone for the first time.

all around grossness. :)

PS, the birth control also has that effect, if you skip the placebo pills..i think. You're a doctor so you should know...waise i dont think it should be a problem if u use it for 1-2 cycles only, BUT if u have time, try taking it now to see if there are any side effects.

then again the risk of side effects is too much so nah
