Primer for the Eyes

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good eye primer? My eyeshadows seem to just melt off and not last; especially in warm weather.

Thanks

Re: Primer for the Eyes

I have heard that Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion is really good…I personally have never used an eye primer but I am tempted to try this one…

Sephora: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion: Concealer/Shadow Base

Re: Primer for the Eyes

Thanks Hun, i've also heard about this one...seems to have good reviews.

if there is any tried and tested suggestions please let me know

Re: Primer for the Eyes

its basically a lightly pigmented cream shadow that helps the powder eyeshadow sit well..and last longer..

Re: Primer for the Eyes

you don't have to get a specific primer for the eyes.....just use regular primer that goes under your foundation on your eyelids.

and if your eyeshadow requires extra staying power then put on an additional base of skin-toned concealer to provide extra coverage on the lids and then apply eyeshadow.

Re: Primer for the Eyes

There is an excellent silicone based paint/primer from MAC (i use the shade "bare canvas") which i use when i'm doing heavy eye makeup. Not only does it prevent your eyeshadow from creasing, but it also gives your eye makeup longevity and makes the makeup look ten times more pigmented and strong.

Re: Primer for the Eyes

i use the UDPP and smashbox photo finish primer. honestly, i rarely ever put on the UDPP for eyes cuz i always feel like im putting on way too much so if u just get a primer for the face i think its good enough.

after cleaning my face i use a toner, moisturizer and eye cream for hydration cuz usually the area around my eye looks dry otherwise after makeup. after that i put on the primer, then i use MUF's camouflage pot cuz i have really dark eye circles. then put on foundation and then concealer. so i already feel theres so much going on that by the time im upto putting on an eye shade i just dont want to put it on.

there are some situations in which an eye primer like UDPP is really good. if ur not wearing much makeup specially in the summer if ur just going out and u wanna put a light eye shade on, theres no reason to put primer on the whole face, u can just put some on for ur eyes. the main reason to use UDPP is because its got a beige color instead of most other primers which are clear. the fact that u put a beige primer on ur eyelid makes the true color of ur eye shade become prominent.

Sephora has one called "tricks-of-the-trade" that I use on special occassions.. Too Faced Shadow Insurance is another fav.

Re: Primer for the Eyes

wow looks like it would to be urban decay, i have heard alot of good things! and thanks for the tip muzna.

Maroush how much is the Mac primer by the way? as the urban decay is relatively cheap. seems like good value for money.

Re: Primer for the Eyes

Urban Decay forever and always. You're right, its reasonably priced and it lasts a long time. It's fab.

Re: Primer for the Eyes

i use a slightly shimmery creamy eyeshadow i got from the dollar store..i've had it forever, it never seems to finish. i've never had any problems with it, so i never bothered to get myself an actual primer

Re: Primer for the Eyes

apply your shadow with wet brush or applicator it will work guarnteed,no need to buy extra primer for that purpose

The Mac Paint is £12.50. They also sell a proper primer (called prep and prime eye) which comes in three skin shades, and that is £11 .

Re: Primer for the Eyes

MAC Painterly Paint Pot
Benefit Lemonaide
Urban Decay Primer Potion
NYX Jumbo Pencils

An eye-primer makes a huge difference.. colors go on intense, don't smudge or budge and the overall finish is great.

With applying u're eye-shadow with a wet applicator, blending is next-to-impossible and that leaves u with very harsh lines.

Re: Primer for the Eyes

brought the Urban Decay primer, will be putting it to he test....got wedding to attend next week, so will keep you posted how it goes!

Re: Primer for the Eyes

urban decay one is the best i heard. and ooh, don't put on eyeshadow with a wet sponge or applicator.. it gets real messy.

Re: Primer for the Eyes

another vote for urban decay. I tried the Mac Prep and Prinme for the Eyes, but UD wiped the floor with it. I love it.
