Primer and the foundation ..

Ok mates , I know both serve a different purpose but I am confused .

Should the makeup not stick on fine if one wears a nice and smooth foundation?

Or is the primer a must , even under the foundation ?

Or is a primer particularly helpful to get the blush to stay , when one is not wearing a foundation …and faceprimer then helps the blush and the face powder to stay on for longer …

:hmmm:

Re: Primer and the foundation ..

Primers contain additional ingredients (like silicone) that foundation does not usually contain. They serve the following purpose:

  • To give your makeup longevity, and stay put even during hot weather
  • Prevents the skin from absorbing any pigment from the foundation (that's when foundation colour starts to change!)
  • Absorbs any excess oil (if your primer contains salycilic acid)
  • Creates a smooth and even base

All in all, i think primers are must on occasions, but personally, i wouldn't use them for everyday wear.

Re: Primer and the foundation ..

Hmm.. I always thought primers are to protect your skin from negative effects of foundation... working as a shield between your skin and make up??

Re: Primer and the foundation ..

it helps makeup stay on longer and cleaner.

Re: Primer and the foundation ..

Wow , thats quite helpful guys , thanks Maroush ..:hugz:

running to get a primer

Re: Primer and the foundation ..

i'm sure this question's been asked before but please which is the best primer to wear if you have combination skin. Must be available in UK

Re: Primer and the foundation ..

The bet primer is Smashbox primer, but in the UK, it is marketed under the name "Lanacane" :@:

Re: Primer and the foundation ..

Thanks Maroush....

Re: Primer and the foundation ..

Wait!!! Lanacane is an anti-chafing gel!!! that’s why i said it… it does work as a primer, but it isn’t marketed as one…and it does have the same ingredients as Smashbox…:bummer:

If you don’t want to buy that :cb: then go for YSL radiance touch or MAC prep and prime… i like those two.

^ LOL maroush!

even in pakistan?

plus....can i use primer under mineralpowder?
