I want to buy my father a laptop, but being the silver surfer he is (:)), he needs a very basic computer, where he can just check his mails, use MS office and see the pics I send him. So I am looking for an easy-to-use, basic laptop with in the lower price bracket.
You want to buy it in Pakistan , which city ? There are many stores in big cities of Pakistan who have their websites with prices of laptops on these sites.

My friend got a sony vaio from pakistan in Pak Rs101k and then my bro got the same one from dubai around 2 weeks later for Pak Rs 65k. That is just crazy
well i would suggest a netbook then, they are both cheap and easy to use. Can accomplish tasks like running browsers, a/v files, office and what so ever which is general.
but they DONT have an OPTICAL DRIVE.
I also have one, which i am very proud of... anyhow look at the specs.

SSDs are a new generation of hard disks similar to USB Flash hard disks but way more faster and reliable. They have 3-5 times higher read and write speeds than normal hard drives. That's why on my netbook xp loads in mere 2-3 seconds!
There are models from ASUS, MSI and HP which are better but a bit more expensive. Also they are hard to get to because they are brought on order and no other way. That's why i don't have specs on them.
