Would anyone who has recently shopped for their wedding know how much a nauratan set (choker, big earrings and one kada) cost in Karachi? I’m guessing the total weight would be around 8-9 tolas.
I also want a matching traditional, round nauratan tika and jhoomar. Would I be able to get them made in silver and then have them dunked in sone ka paani if I show the jeweler my set? How much would that approximately cost?
Please let me know! I do not have too much time and have to decide whether I should get in from Pakistan or buy one from the States.
well are you asking for prices of a real gold navratan set ??
8 - 9 tolas is about a 100 grms.. so the gold price alone would be $$5500.00 approx, add to that the stone and making charges plus profit margin.
yes, i want the necklace (choker), earrings and kada to be real gold. I'm looking for the jadau style nauratan that is more popular in Pakistan rather than the kundan-ish ones.
Nauratan sets require more gold ...so i think with 8-9 tolas you might be able to get just the necklace and earrings..for the kada u are loooking at another 3-4 tolas minimum..I'd say keep a budget of around $8000-$10,000 for everything.
My mom got a Polki set made for my sister, earrings and necklace around 9 tolas costed $6000.
nauratan = nine gems. So it is basically made with nine different stones.
The traditional Indian ones (called navratan/navratna) have all nine gems and mostly arranged in a particular order and set in kundan. The Pakistani ones usually have 5-7 gems and are mostly found to be made in jarao settings.
well firstly a tola is never 10 gms , its a sub continental measurement tool its 11.664 gms , a gram as of today is 5,300 that means a tola will be 61000 9 tolas means 5,40,000 gold worth , than the making , deign, and wastage charges, so add another 3 lacks and yes they even keep there profit . plus the gems I' guess they'll start from 9,00,000 and they 27,00,000 if te gens are ruby's for red , emeralds for green , sapphires , diamonds , and so on , but if they are aqua , garnet, amethyst, opal and so on than yes the major expense is the gold and they making etc.
