Hello,

I am looking for some source to find out the prices of different things like fuel, food, gold etc in Pakistan with complete history starting from the 80s-90s up to 2011. If not, just give me some rough ideas like what ever you remember how much were these things in different years.

Trust me dude if you travel back in time in the 80s and ask people they'd still tell you "Bahi jaan yeh ghee ka dabba 1930s mein chaar annay ka hota tha, aur ab 1982 mein 20 rupay ka hai...tauba tauba kitni mehngai hai" People are never content with anything.

Exactly. Being a child, I used to ask this from my dadi and Ammi a lot back in 90's and they were of the idea that ' wo barkat aur sasti cheezon ka zamana tha'. Now, if we compare prices of things in 90s, we will say same thing to our next generations.

Well that is a different issue. I need some stats for a little research followed by a report and few presentations.

Then you should also consider purchasing power of the money besides increasing prices. Bade boorhe aise hi to nahin kehte hain na ' purana zamana barkat wala tha, ek admi kamata tha aur pura kunba khata tha.. ab sare kamate hain per wo baat nahin'.

I mean to say you should also consider devaluation of currency alongwith inflation.

Depends what kind are you interested in?

I am afraid you wont get them online - for such historic data , you need to visit the libraries at MOF , SBOP and WB… where you can get your hands on such reports / journals

Start with Yahoo Finance, Google Finance.

Google Price of Gold since 1980 - i have no doubt you will get several hits.

WB - maybe World Bank.
