Pinjar Movie Preview
Pinjar is based on a novel by Amrita Pritam. Directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the movie is a human saga set during the Indo-Pak partition. Music is by Uttam Singh and Gulzar coins the lyrics.
Pinjar is a women oriented film bringing out the sufferings they underwent during the Indo-Pak partition. Pinjar is a story of riot, mayhem, human suffering and hope.
Urmila Matondkar leads the movie along with Manoj Bajpai, Sanjay Suri, Lillete Dubey, Farida Jalal, Seema Biswas, Priyanshu Chatterjee, Isha Kopikar, Sandali Sinha and others.
The story
During the indo-Pak partition, a full-scale riot broke out in which lakhs of families were displaced overnight. The worst hit, as always in any battle- were the women. Thousands of helpless women were raped and kidnapped as communal and political tensions let loose hell in the Indo-Pak border villages.
While the riots were in full swing, there were people who still hoped in humanism to survive and were waiting for their dreams to come true.
Relationships, socials mores and cultural standards were put to test when two communities were fighting out of insecurities for unknown future. Yet there was light at the end of the tunnel.
Love, sacrifice and understanding of human emotions paved a road to-coexistence and peace. Will the air again rent with the joy of dance and music – the ultimate and essential spirit of Punjab? Will love win over hate?
