Preventing suicide bombing - any ideas?

If i can recall correctly someone told me that none of the sucide bombers identities has ever been discovered. Is that true?
It makes me think - is this some sort of government/isi conspiracy to achieve whatever their dubious goals are?
These suicide bombers are trying their very best to disturb the current climate although life is going on as normal.
One thing I dont understand is that what actions is the state taking to eliminate or minimise suicide bombings? I am not talking about army action in Waziristan. I have friends from Peshawar telling me that one has to pass through metal detectors to enter resturants and the need of a pass to go through the cantonment.

Can we ever spot a suicide bomber? Is there any clues that we can look for that would indicate how a suicide bomber would behave? There are no tell-tale signals I am guessing.

What could be done to make the cities better protected? What could the army do to make themselves less of a target? There must be huge security cordons around military areas nowadays right?
How would other countries such as Israel deal with and try to prevent as much as possible sucide bombings within the country?

I get the feeling that no extra security is in place and these people would have an easy job of doing their cowardly deeds. Any ideas, opinions on how to deal with this ?

Re: Preventing suicide bombing - any ideas?

Provide quality education for children living in poverty for free
Provide employment, proper health care, housing.... in short provide people with the basic needs. Once people are provided with their basic needs, they wouldn't need to sell themselves or their young boys to meet the day to day needs of the family.

Re: Preventing suicide bombing - any ideas?

thats all long-term. what about short-term - what coulda city and its administration do to minimise ?

Re: Preventing suicide bombing - any ideas?

You mean those that do suicide bombings are only poor, deprived, and uneducated? Try to remember and think.

Re: Preventing suicide bombing - any ideas?

They all might not be...
Young guys coming out of colleges, not able to find jobs, being brain washed by the jahil mullahs, they are all sailors of the same boat.

It is time that we look into the root cause of all this suicide bombings...

Re: Preventing suicide bombing - any ideas?

Well, what about rich Saudis (remember 9/11)?

What about bombing in London by rich British Muslims (remember 7/7)?

Were they all young guys coming out of colleges and not finding jobs?

Re: Preventing suicide bombing - any ideas?

And Kazinski the Uni Bomber was a Harvard Graduate.....struck more than once........Timothy McVeigh was an ex serviceman.

Re: Preventing suicide bombing - any ideas?

Rich saudis are using our people, they are not the ones who die. How sad is it that you are having such a hard time accpeting the turth.

You tell me what else is the reason for these young people to turn into suicide bombers?

Re: Preventing suicide bombing - any ideas?

I am not talking about these people.... I am talking why ppl in pakistan are being sold in the hands of terrorits.

Re: Preventing suicide bombing - any ideas?

I think to an extent Lusi is right. If govt provides education to poor kids then they won't be thrown in "madrassahs" where they can be manipulated into anything. If you remember interviews of people during Lal Masjid saga, many of the students were from families who couldn't afford education anywhere else whilst they were getting free place to live and free food in Lal Masjid (or associated madrassa).

Re: Preventing suicide bombing - any ideas?

One of the steps that cities can take is keep an eye on ammunition/bomb-making material movement between cities, within city etc. Shut down all illegal arms/ammunition making industry (which has been thriving in Darra/FATA areas). All entries to cities should be closely monitored/inspected, specially anything going out of FATA/NWFP.

Re: Preventing suicide bombing - any ideas?

Yes, get foreign powers that breed this animosity, of their lands. Simple. The rest are just futile complexities.

Re: Preventing suicide bombing - any ideas?

Foreign powers in Pakistan? I didn’t know Musharraf, our army are foreigners :cb:

Re: Preventing suicide bombing - any ideas?

i am wondering, what if we spot a suicide bomber who is just seconds away from blowing himself, how are we suppose to react or handle this/him?
If he's close enough, shoot him as soon as possible?
If he's far, run for our lives?

Re: Preventing suicide bombing - any ideas?

Those who have Power should respect the rights of those that are disinfrachised................easier said than done.

Like an Old saying that is always TRUE

JUSTICE IS FOR THE STRONG!

Re: Preventing suicide bombing - any ideas?

i guess Pakistan politicians were too busy with Kashmir's people issues and engaging India, somewhere common man in Pakistan is ignored..and now what we are seeing is the anger of common man for whom real issues were only the basic amenities or survival...

I'm not aware of any short term methods to prevent sucide bombing but Pakistan should invest on long term method, Like everyone above said the solution is to revive the education model (induction of vocational courses) plus now Pakistan must concentrate on improving its economy which is the backbone of every nation..

Re: Preventing suicide bombing - any ideas?

A wave of suicide bombing attack is really miserable condition in pakistan.and what about child bombers? In some madrasaas training of young bombers is even more widespread in pakistan.
The solution is seek Knowledge and aviod fundamental thoughts.......

Re: Preventing suicide bombing - any ideas?

get your maulvis who loooooove to talk - out there preaching ag/suicide bombing to every mosque in existence.

They need to cut it with their sunni vs. shia debates already and join up on this issue and condemn suicide bombings once and for all. They have been admitting on television that they have not been vocal enough about it.

God knows how vocal they get when we talk about covering a woman's head.

Iman se, if I had a jooti in my hand and one of the Pakistani mullah folk came in my way, I'd beat the *HIT out of them.
