**President appreciates PM for political wisdom

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari Saturday during his fifth address to the joint session of the parliament appreciated the political wisdom of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani.

Asif Ali Zardari has become the first democratically elected President of the country to have addressed joint sitting of the parliament for the fifth consecutive year.

In his address, the President said, “Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani deserves our unqualified appreciation for his political wisdom in handling various challenges with courage and perseverance.” The President also appreciated the contribution and support of the coalitions partners to the PPP government during the last four years.

President Asif Ali Zardari thanked the leadership of all the political parties for their support to the democratic process. He complimented the Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani for his able leadership in the House, then Chairman Senate Senator Farooq Naek and Speaker of the House Fehmida Mirza.

Able leadership? What is the yardstick for standard of leadership in the ruling party? Not an iota of shame and rue for what the country has become in the last for years? Is democracy and government is strictly all about completing 5-year term. After four years, you are still talking about ways and means of tackling energy crisis while no viable practical step seems to have been taken in this regard. These four years were sore years that will go into history as the most terrible the country ever had.

The president praises parliamentarians, parties’ leadership, speakers of the Senate and the National Assembly and prime minister for enjoying themselves and neglecting moans of the poor masses as if they simply do not exist. Bravo Mr. President

Re: President praises PM for political wisdom

Prime minister we are proud of your services for the people, please keep up the good work in your new role (I guess after 21st).

Zardari should nominate Gillani for nishan e haider after 21st.

Re: President praises PM for political wisdom

yup president likes gilani's shujayat n bahaduri n dhitayai....:D

Re: President praises PM for political wisdom

Gilani may secure Nishan-e-Haider also for the gallantry with which he is defending his boss. And for his statement that he prefers jail to obeying court. And don’t be astonished if he says I prefer PPP to Pakistan :hmmm:

Re: President praises PM for political wisdom

he does not need to say that he is proving that during the past few weeks...

Re: President praises PM for political wisdom

Zardari has made history by fifth address to the parliament, he should send his credentials to Guinness book of world records.

Re: President praises PM for political wisdom

^ indeed he has made history. Hardly anyone else in the country is cursed so much on daily basis.

Re: President praises PM for political wisdom

One thing though, he did have the balls to address the parliament. Our so called tabla-general self proclaimed commando musharraf didnt have the guts to face the very own parliament he rigged to setup towards the end.

Re: President praises PM for political wisdom

Baring a few, he has everyone — the good, the bad and the ugly — on his side.

Re: President praises PM for political wisdom

Not sure how that is an accomplishment, as mentioned above, he has a seedy coalition that is willing to bang tables for him for no rhyme or reason.

The president is supposed to be a non-political entity, and this president is the chairman of the ruling party. So in effect, its like a party ijlaas to him.

*Lies, lies and lies:

ISLAMABAD: In his speech to the joint session of parliament. President Asif Ali Zardari wrongfully praised the economic performance of the government and did not mention the historic failures owing to which the economy is teetering in the intensive care unit, said a news report.• Zardari said that exports have increased to $25 billion in the last year, but he did not mention that $3.5 billion exports were increased owing to the price hike of the cotton.

• Zardari also failed to mention that inflation in Pakistan has persisted in highest double digit for over 50 months in a row, which is never happened in the history of country.
• On top of it, the regime has also neither released the poverty number nor it has released the latest basic data through which one can calculate the poverty number in the country.

• The cotton prices last year increased three fold on average meaning by that from 98 cents per pound to $2.46 cents. Owing to this very factor, Pakistan got $3.5 billion addition in exports. The president, however, did not mention that export growth turned negative in the last three months in the wake of the downward prices of cotton.

• He also pointed out saying that tax collections have doubled from Rs1,000 billion to about Rs2,000 billion since 2008 and claimed in the same breath that this year the tax growth is the highest ever at 26 per cent. He needs to know that revenue has doubled not because of the government efforts but because of the huge inflation of about 70 per cent registered in the last four years and if the enormous impact of the inflation is adjusted, then the revenue has factually increased by only 30 per cent.

• Zardari also mentioned that the government has added 3300MW in the system, which is factually incorrect. Most of the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) were initiated in the Musharraf regime, but executed by the present government. So the claim to inject 3300MW in the system and attempt to get its credit is questionable. However, he did not mention that after increasing the capacity to generate electricity, why the 180 million countrymen are facing the painful and long duration power outages.
