He failed to crack down on corruption totally but there has a great progress in this area, too. Pakistan was No.2 on corruption. Today, it’s stands at No 25 on the corruption list. Musharraf has got a support of business. But, he needs support within Pakistan and overseas Pakistanis to overcome his reforms.

Furthermore, Afghans going back to their homes, is a good sign for Pakistan.

For widespread poverty, WAPDA & KSEC are to blame. Rightnow, 35% of Pakistanis are below poverty line according to the recent report of ADB(Asian Development Bank). Musharraf is failed to crack down on WAPDA & KSEC!

Pakistani Tiger

Doesn't it sounds like confusing to you? The job of the military is to defence country, not to run the Govt.

Ain't it true?

Re: Re: Re: Re: President Musharraf Performance From Oct 12 1999

Allow me to clear this more

  • After gaining Independence from Brits, M.A Jinnah became the first Governor General of Pakistan and Mr. Liaquat Ali Khan as a first PM. Mr. Jinnah passed away after the birth of Pakistan and Liaquat Ali Khan was assassinated. Who assassinated Liaquat has never been investigated because the assassinater was shot down immediately. Anyway, afterwards Pakistan has its first constitution in 1956, delcared Pakistan as a Islamic Republic. West Pakistan(Currently Pakistan became ONE UNIT). Gov. General Iskandar Mirza dissolved parliament on the basis of corruption and nominated himself as a President. Take a deep note. Soon after becoming the President of Pakistan, Iskandar Mirza shared power with Air Field Marshal Ayub Khan[In other words, want Army to his puppet). Result, after 21 days later Pakistan had its first Martial Law.
    [/li]

Ayub Khan, made the constitution of Pakistan as a Presidential. There wasn’t any PM during Ayub rule. He resigned when people started agitation against him in 1969 and handed power to Yahya Khan. Pakistan had her first General Elections in 1970. Election result went in favor of East Pakistan party Awami League. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s party won all major seats from West Pakistan. Both leaders didn’t agree to share power. In fact, the power should be transferred to Mujeeb-ur-Rahaman. The ball went in the court of Yahya. He handled the situation in the wrong way by cracking down on agitation, supported by India, too. Result, East Pakistan became Bangaladesh by the fault of both politicians and military.

In 1971, the power transfered to ZAB. He was a great leader. But then despite of being a Democracy Champ, the tried to turn the constitution Presendential, resulting new military regime by Zia.

Zia’s rule was the worst. People were divided b/w religion and ethinicity. The whole Mullah crap began during his rule. Pakistan was destroyed internally, not economically.

Then, we got BB and NS, which I ain’t wanna discuss about them.

Pakistan was near default before Musharraf’s regime.

This has been our history. I know Musharraf is going against constitution but I don’t see same leaders again in power, who don’t even know how to tie their shoes. I just wish Musharraf ain’t use the power, which would hurt Pakistan.

Keep it up Mushy, top man :k:.

Dont worry about that creature PT... These accusations are natural when one tries his best to promote his hate-monging and fails miserably...

I like the way you summed up this thread... You finally agree with me on that law and order part now :)I told ya!

Right on brother!!! Sectarian killings that were sponsored by the Mollahs and RAW are now coming to an end. Although there are occasional incidents out of sheer desperation, eventually this will come to an end...

THere you go Pakistani TIger, good job!

As regards Musharraf, I was only distressed when he announced refrendum and when I read that the refrendum was rigged. I just didn't wat to see him venturing into this dirty world of politics to say the least.

Well, so far he has done a god job. But let me say that when he took over the reins of power in his hands, many educated and enlightened people supported him thinking he would use his iron hand to take the country out of the heightened corruption and ever growing extremism.
He did a good job as far as curbing the religious extremists are concerned (what else a person can do in this regard) . As far as the question of corruption is concerned, well while the fact that Pakistan has made a progress in that regard is very much appreciated BUT for once we thought that he would be able to deliver more on this front atleast.
He has the power, the ablity and the capacity to take due action in that regard. But so far the question of check and balance and accountability is still lingering on our heads.

His actions are good backed by good intentions but as far as I am concerned I would not like to see sit in the parliament as the President of Pakistan. Even if he wishes to do so he should run for the presidency instead of imposing himself on the nation.

His stance in Kashmir is good. His diplomacy in Afghanistan is yet to be tested. I believe that Pakistan must interact with Iran, Russia and other Central Asian states, allay their fears about religious extremists.

But so far he is doing a good job. What ever he is doing is at a great risk, at the cost of his own life. So I support him for that. Bravo Musharraf.

Spock

When it comes to LAW AND ORDER, I don’t mean EXTREMISM But I rather prefer to talk about CORRUPTION

Haven’t you seen how an ex-ISI Cheif fled the country with 3 billion Rs. This large amount of money Pakistan could have used in the construction of roads

NAB Can’t Sue Armed Forces Person

Musharraf has started work against Corruption but why is he not taking action against Army Men?

No doubt, Musharraf is the only choice we have. But I am afraid to tell you and other Guppies, that he is also involved in Corruption. Not at the high level but he’s involved in this Dirt too.

:hula:PAKISTAN - ALL THE WAY:hula:

Well Mr PT …
tell me if tehre are 2 people one is 90 % corrupt and the other is 7% corrupt which one will u go for … well sorry to break the news to u but ur politicians are over 90% corrupt , I think u should come to england and america and see ur politicians waliking in the parks while ur nation suffers for the money they have stollen from each pocket in pakistan …

:hula: PAKISTAN ALL THE WAY:hula:

It doesn't matter whether a person is 2% corrupt or 90%. Only thing Matters that Corruption exists and some one fled the country with our money, your money, the money of Pakistan.
