It is good to see Iran and Iraq finally having good brotherly relations. The neo-con clowns are getting irritated, that the two Muslim countries are becoming very close.
Ahmadinejad on historic Iraq trip
BAGHDAD - President Bush’s last trip to Iraq was kept secret until he arrived at a U.S. military base. Eight hours later he left, after Iraq’s leaders traveled to meet him there.
In sharp contrast, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s visit — the first ever by an Iranian leader to Iraq — was announced in advance. He plans to spend the night here, and Iranian TV will broadcast his departure ceremony live.
Once considered Iraq’s archenemy, Iran is now cozy with Baghdad’s Shiite-led government and eager to show off Tehran’s rising influence as debate rages in the U.S. over how quickly to leave.
Ahmadinejad was to arrive Sunday morning at Baghdad’s airport and head to Iraqi President Jalal Talabani’s headquarters, located right across the Tigris River from the mammoth new U.S. Embassy in the fortified Green Zone.
Ahmadinejad sought to reassure Iraqis ahead of the trip by disputing U.S. accusations that Iran is meddling in Iraqi affairs and fueling violence among Shiite militias.
“Iran has no need to intervene in Iraq. It is friendly to all groups in Iraq. Isn’t it ridiculous that those who have deployed 160,000 troops in Iraq accuse us of intervening there?” the Iranian state-run news agency, IRNA, quoted Ahmadinejad as saying.
Published: Friday, 29 February, 2008, 01:43 AM Doha TimeBAQUBA, Iraq: Around 500 Iraqis yesterday protested in the central city of Baquba against the upcoming visit of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Iraq.
“No, no to the Iranian regime!â€* read a banner carried by protesters.
The demonstration was held in Baquba’s Hai al-Mustafa district.
Tehran, meanwhile, sent a high-level delegation to Baghdad to prepare for the landmark visit on Sunday, a source close to Tehran’s mission in the Iraqi capital said.
The visit of Ahmadinejad is the first by an Iranian president since the creation of the Islamic republic in 1979 and marks a sharp shift in ties between the former foes, whose 1980-88 war killed an estimated 1mn people. – AFP
Re: President Ahmadinejad to visit brotherly Iraq: US getting irritated
When a western leader visits Bhagdad he has to hide and take a chopper from the airport since the roads are not safe.
When Ahmedinejad visits, he is able to take a motorcade.
If we in the west, particularly in the US, still don't understand where the popular Iraqi sentiments lie, what else need to happen?
Whatever reason that existed in deposing Saddam has long past, that job is done and US should leave I think regardless of consequence. Let Iraqis and their regional buddies worry about peace in Iraq.
....That was not difficult to say.
Now here is a question I cannot get past: how will we then make sure that Iraq does not become a safe haven for the likes of osama to build a more sophisticated terrorg?
How will Iraq be able to resist the temptations of a generous Ahmedinejad whose ultimate intention he has made clear, is to remove Israel?

StirCrasy, for one who has enough brains and common sense. I would like you to judge on these statements with the same brains you use, when posting on this site.
Do you really think Ahmadinejad has that power to do so?

Re: President Ahmadinejad to visit brotherly Iraq: US getting irritated
Interestingly enough, let's compare Ahmedinejad's reception in Baghdad to Bush's.
Ahmedinejad
-Announces his arrival beforehand
-Arrives to a red carpet reception complete with Iraqi band playing his anthem and a girl presenting flowers
-Gets in a BMW and is driven along the Airport Road to the Green Zone
Bush
-Arrives secretly without announcing his visit
-US military reception, no Iraqi band or red carpet or welcoming ceremony
-Helicopter ride to Green Zone; unwilling to take the Airport Road.
Ahmedinejad has 0 soliders in Iraq compares to over 100,000 US soldiers, and yet seems more confident and secure when visiting!
