Preserving embroided clothes

With a lot of threads related to making heavy formals and bridals, I can’t seem to find any focusing on how to store them? How do you keep the emrbroidery/kaam pretty as new? Any specific tips and totkas regarding storing dabka, kora, kamdaani and gotaa etc?

Re: Preserving embroided clothes

I don't have very heavy clothes, but I've been keeping my embroidered jodas in a black dry bag (with those moisture absorbing packets)and they've lasted 4 years of wear and tear so far.

Re: Preserving embroided clothes

I have a few heavy outfits/ heavy dupattas and of course my wedding dress/lengha remaining from my wedding , oh more than 20 yrs ago!

Back then , I did not know how to store them, (and still do not).

Each item is in its own heavy plastic bag, with tissue between the kaam to keep it fresh, and from catching.

The kaam on my wedding lengha is as bright and new looking as the day of my wedding. Each piece is in its own bag, with tissue between the folds. When I remember , I change the tissue (every few yrs). All items have been kept in a cool , dark place. I am in a very hot area, very similar to
Karachi.

One of my DD, wore a "vintage" outfit belonging to me which is over 17 yrs old this past Eid. The kaam is still impeccable . Long shirts, and flared sharara type pants were in those days. Everyone raved over the uniqueness and the kaam of the outfit.

The above method has worked for me. I am sure there are better ways to store your formals, but I thought I'd share mine.
