I have a interview on Friday and as part of the interviewing process I have to give a presentation. The presentation is very open - so it can be on anything at all. So I’d be very grateful for some ideas as to what I should present on. Ideas I have so far are:
If its me, I would focus on an area related to the interview. For example if you are applying for a technical position, narrow down to a particular technical area u think u can be comfortable in. Would make a bigger impact if the presentation is relevant to the job/interview. Just my 2 cents.
Its a legal job. I was going to do it on a legal related topic, but when I spoke to the recruitment lady on the phone she sort of hinted that it would be better to do it a general topic. I think the idea is not the topic I choose, but how I present it. So I'm now down to either doing a presentation on history of chocolates or the taj mahal.
I've been on both sides of the table in these audition-based interviews.
Personally, if I were in the interview/selection panel, I would notice whether the candidate has followed a protocol in their presentation... whether there was a plan/focus/scope... and then how well he/she presented in terms of confident public speaking skills and being able to keep the audience engaged.
The topic can be anything as long as you have a firm grasp on it, and you have enough textual and visual material on it.
