Preparing formula outdoors!

How do u guys prepare formula for ur baby when u r out for shopping and picnics etc?
do u keep boiled water n millk powder seperately or u prepare it from home in the feeder n just give it to your baby when he needs it?

Re: Preparing formula outdoors!

I have seen my mami she used to put boiled water in a thermos and milk powder in a separate container and prepare when the baby needs it.

Re: Preparing formula outdoors!

I used to put water in the bottles and carry measured formula in one of those containers they sell for formula and has 3-4 compartments. When I needed it I just opened the bottle and poured the formula in it.
I think you would not want to mix the formula beforehand, especially if you know that it will be a few hours before it will be used.

I prepare as needed..in my diaper bag I keep hot water thermos(his nursery water boiled), room temperature water thermos, and on the go powder packets (we use enfamil Amazon.com: Enfamil Premium Infant Single-Serve Powder Packets, 9.92- Ounce Box: Health & Personal Care)

And I keep 1 bite fir every 2 hours that I expect to stay out so and lots of zip lock bags to put empty bottles in after feeding. Works for us!

Re: Preparing formula outdoors!

Bite= bottle

Re: Preparing formula outdoors!

yes i keep water in thermos in winters n in summers in bottles i know my baby takes bottle every 3 hrs according to tht i keep number of bottles n powder in milk dispenser :D

Re: Preparing formula outdoors!

iPad...?
Although I understood after reading it a few times,at first I thought why is she keeping a bite to eat for herself in the baby's bag...:D

Re: Preparing formula outdoors!

Haha yep the darn iPad has a mind of it's own...knowing me I m sure you took the word bite as something to eat for myself..don't blame ya :D

Re: Preparing formula outdoors!

i just buy liquid formula for outdoors... and have a bottle warmer that i plug into the car .... takes a few seconds and i have warm formula for the baby during winter in no time... and during summer.. no need for warmer.

otherwise.. keep water in thermos at the right temp for feeding... and milk premeasured in those sep feed containers.

never do i make the milk in one go and feed as needed.. it goes bad really fast if its summer.. and even during winter.. dont trust it though they say it can hold for 24 hours untouched at room temp...

Re: Preparing formula outdoors!

what everyone here said- hot water thermos, room temperature bottle, formula dispenser, enough bottles to cover all feeds while i'm out. its a heavy diaper bag, let me tell you!

Re: Preparing formula outdoors!

if ur baby is formula feed then dont make formula in advance cause it will go bad after some time n its mention on the tin also, keep some boiled water wid u ina thermos in a baby bag, there's a milk container available in the markets it has three or four levels, like a tiffin has,in those levels u can fill one time's formula quantity wen its finished put that part in lower level then other will the same quantity of milk will be available for next time....keep both the thermos n the container wid u in the baby bag and prepare wen u need it...

Re: Preparing formula outdoors!

I think my son is the only baby here who doesn’t drink warm milk.. What I do is fill his bottles with only water since he drinks room temperature/cold milk and keep powder in one of these Sassy 4-Section Powdered Formula Dispenser - Sassy - Babies “R” Us and just mix it.. no thermos needed. If I ever run out of water, i just buy a bottle from outside and mix the formula. I don’t even boil his water anymore. I used to.. right at 6 months I started giving him tap water for formula.

Re: Preparing formula outdoors!

Ya u can do that at 6 months and up ... Luxury :D

Re: Preparing formula outdoors!

does the water stay good in thermos for long time?say 2hrs or more?

hmmm i have only one bottle for him…why am i so stupid!!! :bummer:
i’ll buy more bottles this weekend…

Re: Preparing formula outdoors!

^ yup, hot water stays hot in the thermos for a while.

no worries about one bottle- its probably because he's only taking one bottle feed a day, isn't he? maybe get one more bottle. if he was full-on bottle feeding, i'd say get 5. its the magic number for us.

Re: Preparing formula outdoors!

^i mean in thermos when the evaporated water gets mixed with the boiled water it doesnt taste good....
yes i bottle feed him once a day and also when we r away from home....so i'm going to buy 4 more bottles this weekend inshaAllah :)

Re: Preparing formula outdoors!

^I dont know how it tastes but my baby doesnt mind so I guess he is okay with the mixing bit!

I have 7 bottles but I lost the cover for two so I only keep the max of 5 with me if I am out for more than 24 hours.. I also keep the dishliquid soap and travel brush with me if I go somewhere overnight!

Re: Preparing formula outdoors!

Excellent! Never thought of plugging bottle warmer into car!! I have a bottle warmer and thought it was a useless product..I will definitely use it now. No need to ask restaurants in shopping malls to warm up milk!

Re: Preparing formula outdoors!

have you tasted formula though? its tastes like feet, honestly, its* so* gross. but babies don't seem to mind that- in fact, they LOVES it- so i figure they don't have any business minding evaporated thermos water either! :p

Re: Preparing formula outdoors!

are ure feet sweet sgc? :cb:

genie’s formula tastes like cantaloupe juice. its so sweet and milky. funny how it smells like **** (pun intended) when she poops. tee he hee
