I was taking the NatureMade prenatal vitamins. They are over the counter and vegan. My doctor feels strongly that I should take prescription prenatals, because they have more complete nutrition. However, I haven’t been able to find any that don’t have gelatin (or at least, have a known source of gelatin that ISN’T pork). I did find some that had plant-based ingredients, but the capsule still uses gelatin.
sahar, try pregVit. Prenatal Vitamins Postpartum Mineral Supplement PregVit® they’re certified kosher and halal.
pregVit 5 has 5 mgs of folic acid in it, instead of 1.
i spoke to my doctor, but she didn’t prescribe prenatal’s for me… she just said to take folic acid and iron since i’m anemic. i’m also taking 4 gummy vitamins a day haha
is pregvit by prescription from doctor? i need to start multi vitamin regardless preg or not. i got women one a day noticed that it has gelatin, so i have to return it.
how did you find out that the prescription pre-natals have gelatin from pork source? Now I am worried. I didnt even think twice about that. I am taking OB Complete DHA gel capsules...oh boy...
Afro-Sheen, check their website, they might have the information listed there under their FAQ heading or Nutritional Information ot something like that. If its not mentioned, then you can call or e-mail them, most companies will get back to you rather quickly. Also check if there is a kosher symbol on the box!

Afro! I didn't say they are definitely pork. It's just an unknown source. I've been taking the DuetDHA, which do have gelatin. What I'm finding is that even if the vitamin tablets don't have gelatin, the DHA capsules do. Should I keep taking it?
The most important for every pregnant female is to Take IRON plus Folic acid tablets daily. Multivitamin you get from good diet..... Anyway multivitamin are available in tablet form as well not necessarily capsules.
Because the doctor is strongly recommending something with DHA Omega 3, I'm taking Renate DHA. It comes with two pills: a tablet with minerals and a capsule with DHA. There is gelatin but I haven't been able to find out the source.
