With DVD’s becoming so popular and, more importantly, affordable…we’ve begun our collection.

The first few were, of course, a mix of songs from Rafi, Mukesh and the likes…but now we’ve started preying upon the classic films. (Classic for us anyway.)

Indian philum DVD #1 was…yes, those of you that know AnokhaUK will guess this immediately…Umrao Jaan.

DVD #2 was Prem Rog. (Believe it or not, this has been the MOST expensive in our small collection.)

Last night we watched it and were sent back a decade and a half to the time when it Prem Rog was first released.

Wow…what a film! The songs, screenplay, script, acting…all amazingly well done. And to top it all off they handled a very controversial subject for the Hindu community…remarriage of a widow.

Any thoughts on Prem Rog?

love the songs in this movie...but i find it sad....adn the topic angers me...the whole way a widow is treated..sick

I will have to get Prem Rog too. I love the song YEH GALIYAN YEH CHAUBARA! And but ofcourse its a great movie. Raj Kapoor was a great director and a producer!

I still have it on vhs ,i checked print originally was great & it still is.Rishi PadminiKolahapuri,are good .Songs hit of the decade of 80s.good choice muzna

i’ve got about a 100 or so dvds, but none of them are desi.

you might want to check out www.dvdtalk.com.
its a talk forum about dvds and you can trade dvdsand other stuff..

i must have done atleast 30 trades there since last year. easy way to get rid of some stuff that you don’t want.
