Pregnant and Fired

Re: Pregnant and Fired

Reminds me of a movie I saw where the principal of the Catholic school threatened to dismiss a Christian girl because she was dating a Muslim boy ...

Reminds me of a true incident where an American Christian radio station refused to air some promotional item of an organization because it represented Muslims...

Reminds of the time when people would have to alter their life style; their religious and political ideologies to get a job ...

I do not approve of premarital sex. But, in my humble opinion, it is wrong to dismiss a person because of something that has nothing to do with her role in the organization. She's not advocating premarital sex in the school. Either the government should change the law making it illegal to engage in premarital sex, or they should act against these religious or corporate enterprises that want their employees to be governed by the rules that are in direct conflict with state laws. How would we feel if the schools run by the Christian community in Pakistan asked students and staff members to follow the moral codes set by them, even outside the school boundaries?

Every organization has a code of conduct. Accepted. But you can't penalize a person for doing something that's allowed by the state. The law of the land overrides any corporate or organisational law. These schools are private, but they are not private property.

People have a choice now, but if all academic and corporate institutes started setting their own moral agendas to govern the lives of people even outside the organizational boundaries, then, perhaps, we would be living in a very different world.

It's just an opinion, and you're under no moral obligation to endorse it.
