they dont do it over here in UK unless its urgent to know whether a woman is pregnant or not.....i.e. if she has other problems etc.

hCG is made when a fertilized egg implants in the uterus. This usually happens about six days after the egg and sperm merge. But studies show that in up to 10 percent of women, implantation does not occur until much later, after the first day of the missed period. Blood tests can pick up hCG earlier in a pregnancy than urine tests can. Blood tests can tell if you are pregnant about six to eight days after you ovulate (or release an egg from an ovary). A quantitative blood test (or the beta hCG test) measures the exact amount of hCG in your blood. So it can find even tiny amounts of hCG. This makes it very accurate. A qualitative hCG blood test just checks to see if the pregnancy hormone is present or not. So this test gives a yes or no answer. The qualitative hCG blood test is about as accurate as a urine test.

yup, i used the opk's this time around and they are confusing as hell lol the thing i've found is that lh surges can come and go pretty quickly. i tested once per day as per the instructions, but apparently you should be testing twice a day to make sure you catch it. i think i caught the tail end of mine, so here's hoping it worked!

Inshallah!!! I know what you mean , the OPKs although in theory, are simple to use are definitely confusing!! I didn't know you should test twice daily either, although it does make sense as you're right the surge disappears really quick!

heyy SCG…i have started levothyroxine 50 mcg as a treatment…the doc says that my T3 and T4 levels are normal but TSH level is high thats 8.97 (normal range is upto 4.5-5)…going ok so far…although no cycles yet…but im finding an improvement in the muscle cramps that i used to have (specially in the lower back)…and my dry skin (face…upper cheeks) has suddenly improved 
i went through the symptoms of hypothyroidism and dry skin (mild eczema) was one of them…so may be i had it coz of my thyroid problem…but whatever the cause was…its got fine Alhamdulilah 
I also asked my father about hypothyroidism as hes a doctor…and he said its a very common problem and its no big deal…just take the medicine regularly…made me relieved a LOT…this internet surfing and googling stuff is the root cause of the frustration i guess 
Alhamdulilah im relaxed and waiting for my cycles and im sure…it will happen when its meant to be inshAllah thanks SCG for asking…im sure we all will share some good news very soon

update:
I had the nausea and tired feeling soon after conception*(?)*.....which lasted about 4 days....then all the symptoms went away.......now its one week left till the start of my periods....and the nausea feeling has returned today....
anyone had any similarities to this?

i did in previous cycles, but i think it was my progestrone levels spiking in anticipation of pregnancy. sadly, AF showed up :(
this time around, i have nothing. no symptoms of any kind, not even ovulation ones- so i don't know if i even ovulated this month or if the past months where i had extreme symptoms were the odd ones...
afshi, haha :p lets not get too excited- it'll probably come to nothing this month.

My RE said not to do the hpt, and to just come for the blood test 15 days after ovulation. About 8 days after ovulation, I felt cramping, and that continued for over a week. I was also very thirsty.
