Yesterday my SIL told me two things , I just want to know if they are true or just myths ?
She said when you are feeling baby’s movement just on one side of your tummy it’s most probably a breech ! I have been feeling my baby’s movement on right side only and I m in my 18th week masha allah !
She told me to lie down on my tummy for 10 mins after every meal . This will transfer the good affects of food into my baby. I never ever heard of this before and she was surprised to know that my doc didn’t tell me this.
I am more concerned and worried abt the 1st one. My mom says even if the baby is breech what can I do abt it ? and I think she is right but still I am worried.
If you are concerned about the baby being breech then talk to your midwife, at the moment you have nothing to worry about, your baby is still so small then he/she is floating around in there and taking tumbles, when you are closer to your date then you need to talk to your midwife and ask for advice.
if the baby is breach then they will either try to turn it around or consider an elective cesarean.
but at the moment Inshallah you have nothing to worry about. and i wouldn't worry to much. it's really easy to start worrying about if the baby is ok or not, you need to stay calm and relaxed that will help you more than anything.
You are only in the beginning of your pregnancy, not sure why your sil is telling you all this. Your baby has yet to flip around thousands of time. It is not until the end that the baby should go down in head down position. At that point see what happens. Talk to your doctor about when the time comes. Remember walk as much as possible and light exercise that doc says is OK. Eat healthy. And I have never heard about laying on tummy after eating. And usually docs don't reccomend laying on tummy much once second trimester begins. Please talk to your doc only.
You have nothing to worry about the baby being in breech yet. My baby was in breech until the 36th week. She got into position on her own. You being in the 18th week is still quite early in terms of a position for your baby. The baby moves around a lot and will be doing flips and going into all sorts of positions. Just stay active, and eat healthy.
As for the second thing your SIL said, it must be a myth. I've never heard such a thing. You're not even supposed to lie/sleep on your tummy after the first trimester. The baby takes the necessary nutrients no matter what. You don't need to be in a specific position for that to happen.
I agree with others, it's way too early now. I wouldn't listen to these tales. It can be hard to distinguish between wisdom, superstition, and silliness sometimes. But inshAllah all will be well with your baby. And if you're not sure, ask someone whose knowledge you are certain of.
iam 20weeks along and my baby is in a breech position aswell right now..but iam not worried at all as everyone said baby will turn a gazillion times before its delivery time
and iam not sure about those myths....never heard about the 2nd one beofre
I actually felt when the baby was taking birth position, it took 2 days, first the baby's head was at one side and legs on the other side for a whole day, then I felt the legs on my upper tummy. Happened after the 34th week.
Everyone here is absolutely right about the baby's position. The baby doesn't even get into birthing position until the very end of the pregnancy, so certainly at 18 weeks you don't have to worry if he's upside down, right side up, facing left, facing right, etc.
As for the food thing, laying on your tummy is not a good thing, and the further along you get, you should concentrate to always lay down on your left side because every other position has the potential to cut off some of the oxygen or blood flow to your uterus. Not to mention that laying down right after eating will increase your chances of heartburn/reflux. A woman's body is designed to provide maximum nourishment to the fetus---no special tricks are needed. In fact, if you want to do anything the best bet would be to take a nice walk after eating rather than lying down---it will stimulate your circulation, providing increased flow of oxygen, nourishment, etc., to the placenta, and is in general just a really healthy after-dinner habit. : )
