Did you ladies purchase a doppler to keep an “ear” on your baby in between doctor’s appointments? If so, is there one you recommend?
Re: Pregnancy dopplers
there were times i wanted to get a monitor to hear my baby cuz i would get paranoid. but then i overcame the feeling. it may sound very wrong, but after the initial excitement of hearing the heartbeat the first few times.. it got boring after a while.
Re: Pregnancy dopplers
^ LOL what is it about motherhood that makes you a crazy paranoid freak?
Re: Pregnancy dopplers
ahem. is there news?? ![]()
i honestly dont know.. i was the most carefree whatever has to happen can happen it doesnt matter kinda person… and now im all oh my god what if it happens what will i do even though there is no chance of it happening but oh no what if it does!!! kinda person.
i really dont know. all voice of reasoning goes outta the window.. its best that alteast one spouse keep their IQ level high cuz the other ones ( usually the mom’s) will go into the minus zero once paranoia seeps in
once during pregnancy i made myself believe that the baby had not moved for 2 days, but it was good that the husband is a sensible man and pointed out that just that morning during bfast i had made him feel the kicks… to top off that info, i got angry and called my husband stupid for calling me a liar.

ahem. is there news?? :D
Just asking a question. :D
Re: Pregnancy dopplers
what’s a doppler? ![]()
Re: Pregnancy dopplers
^ A machine so that you can hear the heartbeat, at home. Like the ultrasound machines at the doctor's office.
no, i never bought anything like that...both times. it was so exciting to hear the heart beat each time at the doctor's office.
Re: Pregnancy dopplers
Nope, never bought one. I felt it was sufficient enough to hear it at the regular appointments at the doctor's.
ps. Should we be saying congrats? ;-)
Re: Pregnancy dopplers
yeah I never got one. It should be enough to hear it at your doctor's office. Plus later in pregnancy, the doc uses the doppler each time to make sure heartbeat is ok.
By purchasing the doppler, you can cause yourself paranoia. Let's say you use it often at home, and maybe your just not using it right or strange position of baby - you can set yourself up for unnecessary anxiety & fears.
Re: Pregnancy dopplers
Sahar,
I badly wanted to get one during my first pregnancy but when I asked my doctor whether it was a good idea, she told me you’d just be hearing your own heart beat and not the baby’s??? ![]()
I ended up dropping the idea.
Re: Pregnancy dopplers
ya thats true sajal.. u need a trained ear to know what ure listening to.. half the time i didnt know what the sound was until the doc would tell me what ure hearing now is the heartbeat.. it all sounded like white noise to me ![]()
Re: Pregnancy dopplers
sehar, apnay miaN say kaho kaan laga liya karay instead of spending so much money on useless junk. that's what I used to do ;)
Re: Pregnancy dopplers
Sahar, i totally missed that u were pregnant?! congrats
yaaayyy
and to the topic.. no i never got one either. Just having heba move around was enough. I knew her timings for kicking and shoving me…
I am 15 weeks pregnant MA ! I heard my baby's heart beat thru fetal dopler during my checkup this month. Its the most amazing feeling in the world. The very thought that 2 hearts are beating in my body . One my own and one of my baby's.
I never knew that we can buy a fetal doppler for home. Its sounds nice and interesting. As I felt a ball moving in tummy a week back and since then haven't felt anything I don't wanna think anything negative since during 4th month women usually don't feel any movements. But with fetal doppler u can always be sure that everything is ok :)
My husband and his family would freak out if i say i wanna buy a doppler . They are much trapped in orthodox stuff and myths that they even freak out over a tablet of Panadol. So I can't buy it but if u can it would be nice to have :)
LOL I never said I was ![]()
Re: Pregnancy dopplers
^ hahaha. being sly, are we now? :p
nope, never used a doppler. i think it would just make you more paranoid, especially if you couldn't hear anything because of the way you were using the instrument.
