As most of you ladies who are preggers or have been preggers have experienced the constant need to go use the washroom… and in this condition it really really is hard to be in a state of wudhu all the time. Sometimes I am out and about and it really isn’t possible to perform wudhu in public restrooms… so what do you ladies do? especially the ones who live in western countries…
Also can someone pls shed some light on if it is ok to read quran without being in wudhu… I have come across some ppl as saying that you can coz non-muslims don’t perform wudhu before touching the quran…
^i would perform wudhu in public restrooms if its necessary, and there are ways you can make it easier. Wear socks so that you don't have to re-do your feet. Otherwise, if you're just uncomfortable with the thought, plan your outings in such a way that you can get home in time to pray.
As for the Quran thing, that logic really doesnt make sense....relying on what non-Muslims do for guidance on whether you should touch our holy book? You should have wudhu before touching the Quran, no matter what non Muslims do.
Also something I recently learned that might be helpful for other preggos...when you have a vaginal ultrasound, you have to do ghusl (i.e. you cannot pray right after). This is because the ruling is when anything goes inside you like that, ghusl is necessary. On the other hand, if you're having pregnancy related bleeding, it doesn't nullify the ability to pray.
I wasnt saying this fatwa relates word for word to what I was saying but the idea is the same. Things that invalidate your fast are things which, once finished, require ghusl, no? For example, having sex or your period.

Not really. Eating food breaks your fast but you do not require ghusl.
hahaha good point. Well, regardless, no one has to follow what I said. I heard about this and just thought it might be helpful for women who are pregnant.
Mufti Ebrahim is a great scholar. I am not going to deny his fatwa but 'having a fluid entering your body through any cavity of your body is going to break your fast' is no longer a valid fatwa. There was a time when Ulema used to say that putting eardrops in your ear is going to break your fast or getting a shot (injection) is going to break your fast. Those fatwas are no longer valid. Having some fluid entering a lady during vaginal exam breaking the fast seems to follow the same logic so it may not be true. Answer is from 2004 (6 yrs old) anyways.
Now thats not entirely fair, where did he say "through any cavity of the body" in this fatwa? And just because its an old fatwa doesn't exactly invalidate its ruling, there are fatwas centuries old that Muslims still follow. My understanding (before this fatwa) wasnt that it was because of the gel, but rather because you're inserting something vaginally. And frankly, to me, it IS kind of disgusting to go through that, have someone inspect your vagina, stick a machine and a foreign substance inside you and then go off to prayers as if it was nothing. If anyone else thinks they are absolutely pure after that, then by all means, go ahead.
To be honest, Mufti Ebrahim isnt exactly my preferred scholar of choice, I generally go by Sunni Path. I can only follow this based on the masjid class but I'll try to ask the same thing on Sunni Path in the near future (they closed the questions for today).
I am not saying that just because its a 6 years old fatwa so it should be valid anymore. What I am saying that I heard of a similar fatwa no longer being valid (about eardrops) ..
and no one is having a foreign object inserted in them for pleasure. Its a medical necessity. The same rule cannot apply in both insertions. The medical checkup is not sexual in nature.
what we always do is leave pet bottles filled with water in the car for wudhu and going to the washrooms ,as for reciting the quran without whudhu you can recite it without touching the quran, but if you want to touch the quran it must be with wudhu.
