Preferred vendor for LED Screen/Laptop?

AsSalaamo Alaikum friends,

Where would you prefer to order a replacement screen for a laptop? Not looking for Refurb or Used, must be new and carry a warranty. I’ve found several places like Amazon, Ebay, and other websites I have never shopped with before, but I’m not sure which one to order with.

Re: Preferred vendor for LED Screen/Laptop?

Directly order it from manufacturer.

Re: Preferred vendor for LED Screen/Laptop?

Agree. That is the only way to get a warranty that would be worth something....

Re: Preferred vendor for LED Screen/Laptop?

Thanks brothers.

So, checked with HP Parts; the LED screen is $143.xx, misc. vendors sell for $45-$60 including shipping. They have it labeled as manufactured by HP. Am I paying an extra hundo for just one year of warranty?

Re: Preferred vendor for LED Screen/Laptop?

Yes you are. Its also a guaranty that its from HP and not from HIP in China making it with spare parts.

Re: Preferred vendor for LED Screen/Laptop?

Its an old laptop. Why you wanna spend this kinda money one it ? You'll be replacing it in a year or two anyways . Just get the screen replaced and sell it off and buy a new one .

Re: Preferred vendor for LED Screen/Laptop?

HP Doesn't makes LCD screens, they source it from LG/Samsung/AU/ etc, so why gave HP a markup on the screen price again? get it from the third party that actually makes the screen

Re: Preferred vendor for LED Screen/Laptop?

I changed my Lenovo screen a couple of years back with an after market screen, cost me about $40. 2 years, and its working well. No reason to go to the dealer for an old laptop.

Re: Preferred vendor for LED Screen/Laptop?

How old is your laptop and what are the specs?

Re: Preferred vendor for LED Screen/Laptop?

Its an HP DV6-6C10US. About 2 yrs old i think.

AMD Quad Core cpu, Beats Audio, 640Gig HDD, 6Gig Ram

Re: Preferred vendor for LED Screen/Laptop?

Can you replace it easily? If you can then buy it from 3rd party seller.

Re: Preferred vendor for LED Screen/Laptop?

Yes, insha Allah. Installation is very straight forward and basic.

Re: Preferred vendor for LED Screen/Laptop?

coincidentally I have the same HP dv6 laptop sitting around and with the same exact specs and has the same problem as yours ; needed to replace the LED screen. I got a slightly used LED screen from a computer shop nearby and installed it. Works pretty good. I wonder if the same model has a defect with its screen :S
