Preference in rishta

If girls have preference in rishtas that they want someone who is tall then why do they have a problem when guys prefer someone who is fair. Both the qualities are equally shallow and pretty much have no bearing on how successful the marriage will be. So why is one sort of ok and one so frowned upon

Re: Preference in rishta

I don't really care if someone is fair or tall ... the point is who cares if someone has preference for fair or tall ... if htey passed by you then shouldn't you be happy that its done and you dont have to deal with them

Re: Preference in rishta

Agreed. People (men or women) have every single right to choose the kind of life partner they desire, whether the qualities are internal or external.

The problem starts when a family is mean enough to vocalize the reasons like, "Your daughter is not fair enough" or "Your son is too short and stout". They should be careful in how they reject the proposal so that it does not affect a person's self confidence.

But all said and done, if height is important to girls, there is nothing wrong with skin tone being important to boys.
