Starring Ahsan Khan, Hira Salman, Irfan Khoosat, Mira Sethi
Written by Amina Mufti, directed by Ehteshamuddin
It’s probably the only engaging play worth mentioning on current drama scene. Great story so far that isn’t very predictable. Excellent acting all around, especially by Irfan Khoosat.
Irfan Khoosat made me cry... what a legendary actor. Contrasted with Hira Salman's ridiculous over-acting... it just makes me wish for those old times.
Also... Ahsan Khan (don't like him normally) ... looks so good in the beard/long hair/Punjabi act.
^I know, senior Khoosat almost made me cry. He's so flawless. This is 2nd play of Hira Salman that I'm watching, first one was Firaaq which left a lot to be desired. But I think in this serial, her being so overbearing is part of her character with a bit of overacting thrown in. I'm liking Ahsan Khan in this role, it's a bit different from what he usually plays.
I prefer watching Pakistani dramas instead of movies (Holly/Bolly) in free times, but can't stand these people in their mid 30s and some even into their 40s that are still appearing as young boys again n again
I speed-watched the first 7 episodes. The drama's not bad - but totally agree on not being able to tolerate Hira. The only saving grace is because her character is so selfish and unlikeable, its easy to project dislike of actor to her character.
I'm waiting for her character to get her comeuppance - I think that's going to begin pretty soon.
We saw the first episode and hated goshi's overness and hated her dads filminess and emotionally blackmailing even more. After a few weeks hiatus we found nothing else to watch and came back to it. It's actually a very interesting story and has been getting better with each episode. Goshi is a far cry from the roti dhoti desi naari. Ppl may hate her for hurting her dad but uncle ji nay bhi kafi dramay Kia hain. He'd clutch his heart every 5 minutes and emotionally manipulated her into getting engaged to illyas whom she absolutely couldn't stand. Btw the guy playing illyas is so good. I always found him to be a mediocre actor but he's really shone in this role. Ahsan khan's rendition of a dehati ghundaa is also awesome. The girl playing goshi has really grown on me. She's also a pretty good actor though from time to time she looks like a man( sometimes it's her eye makeup I think )
This drama needs to pick up now.
Very predictable evil characters and stupid main character. I see it going two ways, either Goshi fights as a lawyer for her man, or she turns against him and seek Kaali Maa'ta type revenge on him.
Last episode was ulcer inducing. I cannot believe the height of stupidity by Goshi, leaving her baby at home alone. She could've asked the first wife to help with the care, and she would've done a better job than Goshi.
Shams is even more stupid, suggesting his wife to continue working with that leechar insan.
