IMGs are coming but its becoming increasingly difficult to get residency for them, and it will become more difficult from now on after ACGME and AOA merger

There are way too many spots and in programs and in locations that no US student wants regardless if they are MD or DOs (DOs have their own residency spots as well)..there will always be a need for IMGs..all they need to do is do well on USMLE which isn’t as difficult to do now a days esp with the time they have to study. Yes if they don’t do well or fail then yeah they don’t stand a chance for a residency these days. They may also have to apply a 2nd time if they don’t get it the 1st time, but all IMGs I know have secured residency and they’re not the smartest or most studious people.
