Praying with Make-up/nail polish on

Can a person still offer prayers if they have make-up/Nail polish on?

Re: Praying with Make-up/nail polish on

you have to do wudu before putting on makeup- but then again u shuld go simple infront of Allah(swt) when u pray-because Allah ta'lla- does not like dikhawa(show) of anykind-

as far as nail polish goes- ur wudu breaks if u have nail polish on- or if its already on and u do wudu it does not count because nail polish consists of alcohol.

thats what i know from my knowledge-

Re: Praying with Make-up/nail polish on

Well its like if u r already wearing make-up or nail polish......but I guess the answer will still be the same.....

Re: Praying with Make-up/nail polish on

According to Islamic Scholars, Nail Polish creates a layer on nails, which is a water-proof layer, when you do wuzo this layer protects nails from getting wet by wuzoo water, hence those nails are ideally left dry ... which is against the wuzo conditions ... you must remove the polish before performing a wuzoo ...

Re: Praying with Make-up/nail polish on

make up and nailpolish is fine as long u have performed wude b4 putting on make up polish watever. and the alcohol in nailpolish isnt same as drinking alcohol so it doesnt nullify ur wudu. ppl go to doctor they use alcohol to wipe wounds or skin does it nullify ur wudu? no, right. but yeah ur wudu is invalid if u already have nail polish on cuz water doesnt reach ur nails.

simple as that :)

Re: Praying with Make-up/nail polish on

^ yup, i have heard the same :)

Re: Praying with Make-up/nail polish on

thnx ATA, I didnt know tht, I guess tht makes sense with the water not touching ur nails.....

Thnx KB, But if a person reads prayers 5 times a day then polish will have to come off right?

Re: Praying with Make-up/nail polish on

I agree with KB - if you can hold off going to the toilet and still have wuzu from the morning fajr time, you dont have to take it off. But i dont think anyone can hold their wuzu from Fajr to Isha time - its such a long time so I think you would need to take the nail polish off!

Re: Praying with Make-up/nail polish on

Well for the nails the best way is to use Hinna, It will keep your nail colored and there will be no problem about wudu. For rest of makeup if it is water resistant then you have to take it off otherwise there are many product which are not water resistant and you can use them.

Actually if you know the ingredients of most of makeup item you would never use them again

Re: Praying with Make-up/nail polish on

no way! you can pray with nail polish on? I'm always scared to go to the musjid with it on, because I've heard of the ladies telling girls to take it off. Hmm...

Re: Praying with Make-up/nail polish on

oh no!the nail polish debate again :hehe:

well my dear ppl belong to different sects sum sects do not agree upon praying with nailpolish on so may be those women r tellin u to take it off.

but most of the sects agree upon that prayer is valid as long as u have performed ur wudu and kept it till the prayer time.

no you can pray with your makeup on and with your nailpolish on...

as for makeup ... can you do ur wudu with makeup on? i always first do wudu and then put makeup on if i am going to mosque or stuff... that way i am not gona mess up ma makeup ...

as for nailpolish i dont believe in the "nail polish creates a layer and invalidates ur wudu"

Re: Praying with Make-up/nail polish on

can guys also pray with nail polish on

Re: Praying with Make-up/nail polish on

^ yeh they can

Allah ki shaan............

:bism:

To both questions the answer is simple.
Let me provide you with some ahadith, and make ur own conclusion out of it.

Firstly:
‘Purity is half of the faith.’ [Transmitted by Muslim. Summarized Sahih Muslim lil Albani H.120]

Secondly:
Without purity prayer is not permissible.
Abdullah bin Umar (RA) related that he heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) saying: ‘Allah SWT does not accept the prayer which is performed without purity, and does not accept charity from the wealth which has been stolen from booty.’ [Transmitted by Muslim. The book of cleanliness, Chapter obligation of cleanliness for prayer.]

Thirdly:
No part of the body over which wudoo is to be performed should be left dry.
Anas (RA) relates: The messenger of Allah (SAW) noticed a person whose part of the body (over which wudoo is to be performed) to the extent of a nail was dry. The messenger of Allah (SAW) commanded the person to go and perform the wudoo completely. [Transmitted by Abu Dawood and Nisaai. Sahih Sunnan Abu Dawood lil Albani Vol 1, H 158]

So taken these ahadiths, the first two speaking for themselves, the third one especially has to be be looked at conciously. Wudoo is performed over parts of the body, which includes nails! Nailpolish is not a part of the human body. Hence it covers the body part over which ablution is to be performed and prohibits the water from reaching the body part that should be reached: the nail itself. So simply said: The nails should be cleaned with water, WITHOUT the nailpolish. Otherwise your wudoo is invalid. The same goes for make-up. For example mascara, covers your eyelashes. It prohibits the water from reaching them, thus you’re not performing ablution completely.

As for praying with nail-polish and make-up, yes it is permissible. Once I was told a very beautiful example: When you’re preparing for a meeting with somebody very important, you want to look your best. Don’t you? You won’t go and meet that person wearing your pyjamas and without brushing your teeth or washing your face. If we are prepared to put so much effort in meeting a HUMAN like that, why do we lack on that while meeting our Creator? Who is more important than HIM? Why do we look for excuses then?

Allah is Beautiful and He loves beauty, so you’re very welcome to look your best wearing make-up and nailpolish. As long as you’ve done a proper ablution beforehand.

I hope this all makes sense, it does to me… If there is anything wrong I said may Allah forgive me. May Allah grant us more knowledge.

^ Correct and well said.

Main reason wuddu is invalid is because the water did not touch certain portions of your body.

Re: Praying with Make-up/nail polish on

NO NO for both questions..

and as ATA said .. pluss what Chilly Milly saiddd ..with refrencesss ..but one thing i d disagree with Chilly is k putting on make up and nail polish included ..JUST specially for Namaz cos Allah Almighty likes beautyy .. this id disagree .. what wud be right is ... k IF someones already got makeup on even nail polish and also HAVE wudu from before putting on the make up then its ok ..nothing wrong with thatt eg like if you gone to a wedding but before u gone u ve done wudu and at the wedding its namaz time.. nothing worng with that ..

and beauty i wud say is .. haveing propper parda and in praying in the most humble way , not to show others k ur praying .. this i wud consider part of what Allah loves, that a person prays with utmost humility.

anywys.. CEs thread k suaal ka jawab yeh hai k its a NO for nail polish.
waisey nail polish to aur baat hai .. even if one has GUNNED aaata and has gotten dry on the nails ..then does wudu .. but the water does not reach the nails .. the wudu wudnt be complete unless the aata is scraped off for the water to penatrate.
