Sickness & Taliban Mentality is flourishing in other settled parts of Pakistan now. A picture of girl (under 10) force to pray on fire in Hyderabad - Pakistan. This picture is in all newspapers of Pakistan yesterday.
Re: Taliban's atrocities
^ Can you also post the context (story) why these guys are forcing her to pray on burning coal?
Re: Taliban’s atrocities
Their wasn’t any story just a picture:

Re: Taliban's atrocities
^ so how do we know whether they are forcing her or she is doing as some sort of stunt?
Re: Taliban's atrocities
it looks like a shia thing, not taleban. i've seen a (shia) guy perform a similar stunt before. the people behind look like they're beating their heads, which i would expect in such a situation.

Yes, its definitely a Shia thing. Just laughing here at the ignorants who are now associating Shias with Taliban.
re: Taliban's atrocities -
Its not ok to make a little girl pray on a rug on top of burning coals. That's ridiculous. Since when is that a "shia" tradition?
Anyway, why is this thread only for urdu speakers? What's with the discrimination. So many people visiting here have not grown up in Pakistan, and cannot read Urdu script. Does the post-sign say "Pakistan Shaitani mulq" - with an arrow pointing in the direction?
Huh?

for them cnn.com
Since when is that a "shia" tradition?
For about 500 years, I'd say so.
re: Taliban's atrocities -
I know plenty of Shia families. No one prays on burning coal.

They probably don't do that in America, Social Services would be at your door.
But I've seen clips of this happen in India, Pakistan, and never have I seen a young girl doing this ritual; only older men.
re: Taliban's atrocities -
Again, I'm telling you, I know lots of Shia families. Not just in America, but also Pakistan, and in other countries as well. No one prays on coals. This might be something from a certain village, that's something separate. But its not part of their ritual that everyone does.
Matham is something different - but I've also never seen matham tied in with namaz, nor have heard of it.
Maybe people who are practicing shias here can confirm what the reality is. Unless you are shia, and this is a practice in your family?
re: Taliban's atrocities -
^^ people this is not shia/suni chat.. so get back to topic and it is : taliban mentality atrocities..
Unless you are shia, and this is a practice in your family?
Nope, not in the Shia side of my family. But you're probably right that this is a village thing.
Re: Taliban's atrocities -
Firenze, I would normally not turn this into a Shia vs. Sunni issue (I don't delve into those anymore, I don't consider myself as either one), but the last thing I would like is for some non-muslim to see these threads, and think that this is a common muslim practice of sorts.

You should worry abour yourself first, if 'non-Muslim' comes here (it will be out of curiosity) then chances are he will ask too, so lets not get into scenarios. :)
Re: Taliban's atrocities -
Oh you'd be surprised at how naive people can be.
Its not acceptable to be posting up exaggerated information about muslims. Muslims have no tradition of subjecting people to pray on rugs on top of burning coals. Period. No one should be allowed to say otherwise, and not be challenged.
Its amazing. Cry and cry over gaza, but someone misrepresents Islam with their statements (even he admitted it is probably a village thing), and no one should correct them?
Nice.
What century are we living in??
.........Its not acceptable to be posting up exaggerated information about muslims. ....
Oh don't you worry pyariC. This forum is teashop for select group of people. Even if someone non-Muslim does wander around, he has much more ammo about Muslim. Compared this prayer over coal to beheading. Which one takes the cake? your guess!
............ Muslims have no tradition ......
Oh come-on. We know it and everyone else knows that Muslims have lot of orthodox read tribal traditions like woman circumcision in African and Arab societies. So let's not worry about maasoom si namaz on coals.
........its amazing. Cry and cry over gaza, ....
Why you say it is amazing.
Gaza is very very very special for Pakistanis. One palestinian is better than 100 Pakistanis. So we will wait until at least 7000 Pakistanis die at the hands of Taliban before we even think about a puny protest. Until then, it is left Gaza, right gaza, up gaza and down gaza for all the Pakistani Musalmaans.
There are many other rituals including children participating in ‘matam’, how will you explain that to ‘non-Muslims’?

Re: Praying on coal practice, is it Shia thing? (Split from Taliban atrocities thread
no not every shia does it, nor even most shias.
this is the equivalent of showmen/conmen... bengali 'peer' babas.. etc etc. Unfortunate jahalat.
