praying in the MSA..

Okay this question is twofold, and I’m not sure where exactly it belongs, general/life1 or religion.

Lately I’ve started reading namaz in the MSA. Most of the time I have difficulty concentrating because there is so much chatter going on around me. There are rules posted up all over the room, to keep our voices low and stuff, and the majority of hte girls follow them thankfully. But, even soft whispering can distract me, so I realize it’s a personal flaw and not an external problem…

Okay and here’s the other thing. It’s been years since I prayed with other people, I always pray alone, and I feel self-conscious when doing so in the MSA now. Oh yeah… I just taught myself how to properly read namaz and I’m trying to get into the habit of it now, that’s why I feel weird or embarrassed that I might mess up and look stupid. Also, when everyone gets together to pray, what are you supposed to do when you finish reciting what you have to recite before the person leading the prayer finishes and says “allahuakbar” ?..

Re: praying in the MSA..

no help :grumpy:

Re: praying in the MSA..

You wait till the person says Allah o Akbar.

Try to recite a bit more slowly. When in jamaat and the imam is reciting the verses then you donot recite behind him, rather you listen to what the imam is reciting, focus and concentrate on it and try and understand and think about it.

For example when the imaam recites Surah Fatiha, think about the meaning of each verse as the imam recites it. Ponder upon those verses. Since we donot know arabic we cannot understand them the same way as people who understand arabic would but look up the translation of SUrah Fatihah and try to understand it so that you know what the imam is reciting and so on.

Sorry for the long answer to a short question :)

Re: praying in the MSA..

Oh and follow the imam, some people end up leading the imam as in they are too fast in their actions (changing stances and so on).

When the imam says Allah ho akbar, dont change stance until he has finished saying Allah o Akbar, so dont start going down into sajda if the imam starts moving until he finishes saying Allah Ho Akbar.

I hope this is clear.

Re: praying in the MSA..

my friend goes there for jummah only cus most of the good looking desi guys go to msa. haha

Re: praying in the MSA..

Thanks Maniac :)

That does help the second part of my question. The first part is still unanswered though.

Does the same thing apply when it's a girl leading? Like the other day, I was praying next to this girl, and she was "leading" (it was only girls :D) but she wasn't reciting anything outloud. And since we were side by side, it was somewhat difficult to see whether she was going in sajdah because she didnt' recite Allahuakbar either.....

Re: praying in the MSA..

That’s wrong :nono1: Anyway, isn’t the MSA in ur school segregated? We have separate rooms for girls and guys. Us girls get the window and bigger room

(and yeah, som e of those guys r hawt  )

Re: praying in the MSA..

Sara, im not aware of how nimaz is read when a girl is leading, though i would think that she has to say Allah ho akbar aloud too. PErhaps someone else can respond to that.

What was your first question ?

Re: praying in the MSA..

Being distracted by others talking around you is normal. Thats why its not good to speak in an audible tone when others are praying around you but hardly anyone follows this.

Re: praying in the MSA..

How do girls lead prayers when they are suppose to read in soft tones? :konfused:

Re: praying in the MSA..

I didn't know they were supposed to read in soft tones...why is that?

I think when everyone readst ogether, the guy in the next room recites loud enough so that we are able to understand what to do. I only know taht this girl was silent, she was leading only me...

Re: praying in the MSA..

Was she leading as in leading like an imam or just reading her own prayer and that she just happened to be in front of you?

I am just confused.

Re: praying in the MSA..

LH: IN 4 school of thoughts, A women can be imam of a gethering **only **consisting of Women alone.

Re: praying in the MSA..

Ok I just meant to say that I have never had any woman in front of me as in "leading" prayers.

Ladies who had been infront of me praying are just praying like they normally do. I don't think they are leading or anything.

So I just wanted to know what exactly sara meant by "you have to recite before the person leading the prayer finishes and says "allahuakbar" ?...
"

Re: praying in the MSA..

LH I said...this girl said she would lead me in nimaaz...of course i've never been "led" by anyone but my dad, so i dunno..
