Since i am not well read on the Quaran, im wanting to know, are there particular prayers said for persons in your family,and such prayers like:traveling,birthdays,persons in military(allah’s protection),blessings over the food,children(birth),etc…
Or is prayer something formed from your own mind? just as the christians do?
Chris..r u talking about prayers as in zohr etz or dua..please clarify first..because duas YES there is a multitude od duas..but please clarify first what u r asking about..:)
If it is prayers as I understand u r asking about then NO (as far as my knowledge goes) our Prayers are fixed and yes at the end of the prayers one can ask for anything in dua...nafl can be made for haajaat or shukrana..:)

Yes there is a series of various prayers for vaious occasions and activities.........
These prayers are nor compulsory.....but Mustahab.....means optional........if u do u get blessings
Just like reading Bismillah before any Jaiz...permitted act.....
Some prayers come from Quran.....
some consist of Quranic words but not whole verse.....
While some prayers are just in plain Arabic language taught by Prophet Muhammad (Sall Aallaho Wasallam)
