Prayers in the Space Station

2) When and if we run into a situation where these three cannot be 'determined' then we say our 5 prayers at appropriate intervals with 'honest' intentions.

That sounds eminently reasonable to me. Did I get it right?

Ibrahim says: Greetings of Peace to one and all

YES, we follow the Qur'an and Sunnah (the path the Prophet (pbuh) took, that was approved by Allah (swt)) at all times . I have already given enough quotes from them for you to verify it for yourself.

The Qur'an will stand up at any time frame and explain itself to those who have knowledge by the Grace of Allah (swt)for that time frame.

we do not follow traditions or culture in Islam.

Regards
Ibrahim

Sooner or later some spoilt Saudi prince will prolly be the first one there.. and I don't think Allah in in need of exhibition prayers.

If you run out of answers, hit dead-end don't blame others, don't accuse others. If your "intellect" can't answer a question then don't ridicule others.

Really dodgy film called Pitch Black, well in it three muslim's read namaz in a circle whilst marooned on a distant planet.

Wonder if they consulted people in the know....I think not.

I don't think the way of "mainstream Islam" is of using your individual 'intellect'. It's a way of blindly following.

but unfortunately for you, it allows "ijmaa" which you don't since it is not "mentioned" in Quran.

so how does your knowledge address anyone's prayer in space or north / south poles?

pretty simple.. they prey to ALLAH without getting bogged down by 'directions' in which to prey as ALLAH is EVERYWHERE.

Pakistani Abroad: I thought the answer provided by Ibrahim had merit. First of all, even on earth given the spherical geometry of the planet it is nearly impossible to define direction towards Mecca unless you are within a few Miles of Mecca. You are facing off into space anyway. So what I understood Ibrahim to be saying was that facing towards Mecca is a way to forge Unity among Muslims and provide an Identity. And at the same time not to take the injunction so literally that we tie ourselves in knots when we are unable to define directions, time, etc. At that point the essential fact that we submit to Allah and offer our Namaz honestly takes precendence. What is wrong with that?
The place where I would differ with Ibrahim (I think) is that I would not exclude the Ismailis if they choose to exclude the first and only emaphasise the second and not consider them as "deviants". I would tell them that I disagreed with them. I am sure that there is reason behind why Ibrahim chose to call them deviants, but with my present stated of knowledge I consider it unnecessary.

okay, now you have contradicted your earlier mentioned beleifs.

since I know you don't beleive in following ahadith, how do you pray? you had mentioned that you learned it from your parents/ancestors etc, is it true?
