So my youngest - 6 year old “dookie” (rhymes with cookie) is down with H1n1 and is very sick. We were scheduled for the vaccine, all of us, for this coming wednesday but dookie became very sick late last night.
My hubz is out at the pharmacy picking up Tamiflu. Will report on how well it works.
His symptoms are high fever which doesnt break even with motrin, intermitten nausea, sore throat and congestion. We have to keep an eye onhis breathing and if it seems troubled, bring him to ER.
Prayers for him and for older 2 boys would be sincerely appreciated.
he will be fine inshallah. Discuss with your pediatrician alternating tylenol with motrin (that tends to works better then tylnol or motrin alone). Keep the clear fluids going ... this is important.
You may know this already ... tamiflu shortens duration of symptoms by 24-48 hours. Does not seem to reduce intensity of symptoms for most.
Keeping an eye on the breathing is good advise, esp if he has underlying lung conditions (RAD/asthma)
SEnding lots of good vibes your and dookies way!
May Allah help him recover soon...MO3, my friends daughters had the H1N1 a few weeks ago, they got better within 3 days of taking the Tamiflu. Don't worry, just give him a lot of fluids.
Mama don’t wory too much. Inshallah he is going to be fine.
I had swine flu a few months ago. It was quite severe but with the Tamiflu and my family looking after me, I was ok within a few weeks. I found it very hard to eat but make sure he has enough water at his disposal.
