This may be an odd question on my part, but how do you keep a track of your prayers when flying international across time zones.
Example: Flight leaves after Isha from Origin around 8-9PM. Arrives at destination around 7-8PM (Destination local time). With a flight time of roughly 13 hours.
Do you then pray according to the countries you fly over or maintain a prayer schedule based on sunlight; however short it may be?
I’m sure this an easy solution, but I can’t seem to wrap my head around it. Just want to know for my own knowledge sake.
i pray when it’s due in the air…[NOT on the ground]…in the given situation, i pray 'ishaa~ in Delhi then catch a flight at 10:30 pm. i pray my fajar in New York or Toronto just before sunrise. my flight arrives at 4:30 am.
tracking the time on the ground would be too difficult. i do qasr in my seat.
It’s easier and more appropriate to make up the prayers …
Look at the prayer and the Hijri date when departing … Look again when you arrive at your destination the next due prayer and Hijri date and calculate the prayers that need to be made up if any … Perform them as kasr in allocated non-zawal times.
if travelling slow this slip you experience will not exist … It is a purely jet speed travel phenomenon.
praying in plane has a few problems for me …
sun position is falsely assumed … places on land will differ from sky … Orientation of qibla … And cramped environment … And the expiation is given but not taken.
