Prayer schedule / Prayer time assumption

Hello GS;

For those of you who live in Toronto and all I have a question for you all. Do you follow the prayer time schedule that you get from Halal stores or you make your own assumption by looking at the point of the sun to figure out what prayer is it.

Re: Prayer schedule / Prayer time assumption

so I take it you guys use calander to figure out the times of prayers. :chai:

Pardon me for the dumb question, I just thought I’d ask because I look at the sun’s position or the shadow to figure out the prayer time.

Re: Prayer schedule / Prayer time assumption

When you live in a metro, because of the light pollution, its almost impossible to figure out the start of fajr and end Maghrib time by looking at the stars

If I have a calendar available, I use that. I don't live in Toronto, but if I were there, I would use the prayer calendar to figure out the prayer times. Either that, or figure out the time using some math based on the Montreal time.

Re: Prayer schedule / Prayer time assumption

I use Athan software from islamicfinder.org on my BB and computer to determine the salaat time.

Re: Prayer schedule / Prayer time assumption

there is a radio program that informs us of suhoor and iftaar. forgot the station, but its really good. for the calendars..they are a good guide, but sometimes i go by the light outside.

With azaan clocks at homes and access to sites like IslamicFinder (Toronto (ON) Prayer Times (Namaz - Salah Time), Ontario, Canada | IslamicFinder), I don’t see why someone would want to rely on sunlight/sun’s position etc. - esp. with the pollution in the air and all.

Its because if you see the sunrise (which is no where to be found) when you look at the Islamic calander to findout the time for Fajir.
4:33 per suuraj nikalta hi nahi…if you wait half an hour approximately 5am you will see the first ray of the sun and that should be the time of Fajir.

see how it was completely off the chart?

And I used to have that Azaan clock :hehe: good ol times.
