For the workaholics how do you build time into the day for prayer?
Re: Prayer in the workplace
When I did work… I told my boss that I’d need time to pray and that I’d be using my lunch breaks for it. This was in the final stages of being accepted for the position. It’s not an issue to be compromise on so it should be discussed before anything is signed
I never had to tell anyone. It’s a few minutes break. Everyone takes such breaks in the name of coffee, bathroom, watercooler chat … I take it for prayers
Re: Prayer in the workplace
The company where my husband has just started at has a room which some Muslims have designated for prayer. I am guessing they pray 2-3 times a day there. Today for Friday prayers this guy took him for prayers to a nearby mosque but they went early so this guy could read surah Kahaf too and they spent about 2 hours there. This was a bit much in my opinion as technically you can read surah Mahfouz after Maghreb prayers on Thursday.
Re: Prayer in the workplace
I don’t think I’d necessarily call myself a workaholic but as far as praying at work, in terms of permission I made it clear during my interview. As far as scheduling, I would initially just keep track of the time window for each salat and make sure that I prayed within the respective time windows. I also made sure to schedule any meetings so that I could make my salat on time. Otherwise I would excuse myself for a few minutes to pray. Later I began going to the nearby masjid and get there to join the salat with jamat of the time.
