Not really sure where to post this but thought perhaps ‘Life’ is most relevant… Sorry admins if its incorrect!!
Just wanted to sort of know if anyones had their practical driving test at 8am? And whats it been like! Good thing or bad? I wasnt keen on the time but had no choice as my shift work begins next week and really need my own transport!!
Im abit nervous just about it being rush hour and silly drivers rushing to work who have no consideration for others despite seeing a examiner in a learner car with a flourescent jacket on!!
Your thought would be appreciated also any advice etc
It would be a plus point ifbtheres anyone here who has done it at that time in hayes test centre (london) as thats where i have mine!!
could you find a day when you arent at work?? or have you already booked it?? it is do able. but the chances of passing are fair bit higher when its not rush hour. So that avoiding 8-9 and 4-6. good luck!
I had mine early, very good since 15 mins were spent in traffic
Though, my first one was in the afternoon and this stupid milk trolley (yes dhoodh ki cycle I ask you) which otherwise I have never come across gracing the road played a part in failing my test. This was a pointless story but I had been waiting to tell it
I obviously didn’t do my test in London but I don’t think weather or traffic matters. If anything, you can drive slower and take longer to make decisions because of bad weather or in your case traffic. Does that make sense? Maybe not.
since you are in London where fog can roll in anytime and also it may be a bit dark at 8 am on a cloudy day, make sure you turn on the LIGHTS. the ADTRL [Automatic Daytime Light] only turns on the headlights of the car, it does NOT turn on the tail lights. don't forget doing that! i am telling this from my personal experience.
@ midnight express 91 no i cant change now anyway plus my shift work at the airport begins next week and ive been in training 9-5.30 all week until next thursday so its impossible to get any other time.
I had my test 2-3 weeks agi but i failed. I got 3 minors and 1 serious. Serious being that on a dual carriageway i overtook a very slow vechile and then i didnt move straight back into the left! I eventually did but i admit i was abit hesistant to move back as ahead i saw a slip road and thought it would just be eaiser if i move into the left after i pass the slip road! So gutting as i only had 3 minors
Thanks everyone for your replies test is today at 8am!!! I'll let you know what happens.. :)
^ Story of my life... I actually think rush hours are good for the test because usually instructors dont take you on major roads and keep you inside the streets mostly doing all left and right turns...Good luck... InshAllah you will do well
Man, just don't worry about it now. Drive a bit slow (not to hard if you're in rush hour lol) and know your stuff.
Then just pass and go vroom vroom.
here in Canada, if you are too slow then it's sufficient to fail the driving test...the key is that you have to go with the traffic flow. if u r slow and the cars have to swerve around you and/or drivers honk at you then the examiner will fail you as well. parallel and reverse parking are also a challenge to a new driver...here, if your wheels touch the curb, you automatically fail the test.
so many things to keep in mind...both monor and major! :)

Not exactly, ofcourse you can't go slow because you feel like it but I did my test while it was raining and I was going a bit slower as it was required for the weather. No, I didn't fail for going a bit slower. Also, if you get pulled over for speeding and say you were going with the flow - it ain't gonna cut it. So, during the test if others are speeding you can't speed and have to stay within legal limits.
