PPP's Hyderabad rally

PPP’s Hyderabad rally was a huge show of strength as expected. People were awating the rallly in the wake of Sindh Peoples Local Government Ordinance to see if it had any adverse effect on PPP’s popularity in interior Sindh and as per the show, it appears that PPP’s vote bank remains unharmed.

I think the most part of the rally was dedicated to criticize the nationalists for their stand over the local government ordinance. It looks like PPP is in for a long partnership with MQM and is willing to pay some price for it.

Re: PPP's Hyderabad rally

and Gilani lashed out at nationalists to come to the assembly if they have any differences over Sindh local government ordinance 2012, which was also opposed by anp and pml-Q

Re: PPP's Hyderabad rally

^ Zardari is least bothered about ANP and PML-Q as he knows about their limitations and price tags. MQM, on the other hand, knows how to make maximum use of Zardari's vulnerabilities.

Re: PPP's Hyderabad rally

you are right. as much as we would not want to see PPP-MQM alliance, this is not happening anytime soon. we will see PPP-MQM coalition in next general elections too. they both cannot really function without each other and want to share the burden of bad goverance together.

Re: PPP's Hyderabad rally

Why are you surprised? PPP has not done any remarkable work in interior Sindh, still people reluctant to go to other parties. None of the other political leaders including Imran Khan or Ganja Sharif have clear cut policies for rural Sindh. All have betrayed Sindhis in past. Unfortunately how little has done by PPP, people of interior Sindh have no other choice.

These nationalists and other ethnic parties are creation of ISI, hence people of Sindh is rightly deciding who to give vote.

Re: PPP's Hyderabad rally

At least I am not surprised sachaydino.

Re: PPP’s Hyderabad rally

Just a pathetic show of power. Everyone can conduct big jalsa especially ruling party and thats not deciding factor at all. PPP’s owm MPAs and MNAs (Like Zafar Ali Shah) are giving statements against this system. Common people is really annoyed by PPP’s action and they are still unable to convince people about the flawlessness of this new Ordinance. uttering slogans like ‘Sindh card is property of zardari. Bhutto is Sindh’ show the same feudalism approach of PPP, which will ruin its image one day.

Its just not nationalist parties, Sindhi writers are also opposing this new ordinance.

**SUKKUR: ** Poet, writer and research scholar Dr Dur Mohammad Pathan, expressing his disappointment over the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) performance, announced on Sunday that he will return his Presidential Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.

Talking to the media, he blamed the PPP and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for ‘trying to harm the integrity and solidarity of Sindh’, which he said could not be tolerated. He was referring to the controversial local government ordinance. Pathan added that despite opposition from all over Sindh, PPP not only encouraged the Sindh governor to promulgate the ‘black ordinance’, but passed it in a record half hour.
Pathan said that these steps proved that the PPP and MQM were working against the interests of Sindh, and had therefore lost the mandate of the people of Sindh. He added that while several PPP MPAs were against the bill, they did not have the courage to oppose the bill openly.

The poet also said that if the ruling party claimed to have an answer to every query about the new local government system, then it should arrange a roundtable conference where all political and nationalist parties can debate the issue. Pathan also lashed out against the Sindh law minister, saying that he had learnt nothing from Benazir Bhutto and had therefore crossed his limits while criticising the writers and poets of Sindh.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Pathan said the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz was given to him last year for his services in the field of poetry and literature, and he had accepted the award because it was conferred by a democratic government. Having proven that it was now an ‘undemocratic party’, he said, he had now decided to return the award.

Re: PPP's Hyderabad rally

There's a reason why PPP is never interested in development of specially education in rural Sindh.
