PPP to nominate Rehman Malik for Senate seat again
KARACHI: Only a few days after his surprise resignation from the Senate, the government has decided to nominate Rehman Malik for a seat once again, Express News reported on Wednesday. Malik had resigned on July 10.
However, the final decision will be taken after a high-level meeting between the Pakistan Peoples Party members tonight in Karachi.
Malik is expected to submit his nomination papers to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on July 19 or July 20.
Malik’s resignation announcement followed the earlier suspension of his upper house membership by the Supreme Court after he failed to provide necessary documents proving he had given up his British citizenship.
According to Malik, he had wound up his business in the UK in 2008 and withdrawn his British nationality on the directives of former premier Benazir Bhutto and her husband President Asif Ali Zardari.
Correction: An earlier version of this article had incorrectly mentioned the dates Rehman Malik is expected to file his nomination papers. The correction has been made.
What was the need of all this drama of resigning from the Senate if he were to return in a few days time? Kya notanki hey?
By posting these old videos what do you want to convey? He is neither a minister any more nor in PPP. When CJ had golden opportunity to do something against target killings in Karachi by calling him with proof, he never did. Instead he praised target killers for being organized and educated. kis kis ko roagay.
