Lyari has always been a PPP stronghold. There are two communities living there. Kachhi memon and Makrani baloch. PPP has had support from both these communities.
But lately PPP under Zulfiqar Mirza and other Sindhi nationalists has started supporting Balochs in Lyari. Hence PPP support for Lyari’s criminal gangs under the auspices of People’s Amn Committee of renowned outlaw, Rehman Dakait of Lyari. People’s Amn Committee is serving its purpose of terrorizing areas around Lyari. The usual stuff, ‘bhatta’, killing opponents, etc.
But Lyari gangs of PPP are also taking their wrath out on another community of Lyari, Kachhis.
Karachi witnessed a sudden increase in violence a few days back, which was controlled only after rangers and FC took control of effected areas in Qasba colony and other areas. And now yesterday it was time for Lyari to erupt in violence.
PPP Sindh is Karachi’s nemesis.
