Title says 'PPP Sindh'. Then you go on to talk about just Dr.Mirza, and some guy nobody has heard of.

I also object to the fact that MQM plainly object to operations in their areas, yet this is not mentioned.

That doesn't help an 'un-biased' thread.

You should make a thread saying all politcians object to operations in Area XYZ, etc..

Btw, I have said twice in this thread there should be an operation in Lyari.

When PPP Sindh are not following the wishes (allegedly) of Dr.Mirza in Lyari - as there is clearly an operation - how can you then make the title PPP Sindh does not want clean up in Lyari?

Dr.Mirza has given many statements in the last few months, which PPP Sindh have not followed up. Instead he was moved to a different post.

The fact is that your thread is misleading about what is actually happening in Layari. You never talked about the four killers of mqm caught red handed and mqm wants to get them released for condition to joining the government. Operation has already started in Layari, though it should have been started from 90, the center of terrorism in Karachi.

Firstly the operation is a sham. There is no operation against MQM or ANP either, so this idea of not doing it in Lyari causing MQM more sympathies is false.

Secondly, the other people feel the same about MQM stabbing their back and no other choice but to support ANP or PPP. During Musharraf era vast amount of money was handed to KArachi, with very little spent on areas which were not MQM strong holds. Police stations micromanaged by MQM, police officers target killed, haqiqi slaughtered. Then how do you expect other parties not to respond in a similar way.

Thirdly, upto now operation has ignored MQM croonies as well. The only MQM terrorists captured were those prior to operation, who fired on police in chakra goth.

There IS no operation going on in Karachi. WHat kind of an operation it is, when before polce reaches the area, Geo already airs, police is coming.

About time PPP sidelines Mirza.

His extremist nationalistic views and open conflicts with MQM can be a hurdle between any hope for good relation between MQM and PPP.

These two (PPP and MQM) can't live without each other given the ethnic make up of Sind province.

You also said liyari people want the operation.

So when will you condemn Mirza not wanting Liyari to be included in operation?

It’s not about what is on ground reality, it is about what Mirza’s position is on it,… being such a one sided and biased man,… full of hatred.

The thread nowhere shows any MQM position or any member’s position,… to not have operation in Lalukhet and yet have operation in Liyari.

But you still assumed.

You are right, this a sham operation, before actual operation began Zulfiqar Mirza visited the areas that were to be cleaned up.

For every person killed/kidnapped/beaten by what you called a PPP/ANP 'terrorist', dozens have been killed by the MQM, yet you concentrate on the PPP/ANP?

We all know who brought such mass killings and torture to Karachi, from the 80's

This refers to Hamid Mir’s report, ‘Mirza wants full powers for Sindh police, Malik’s detention for 15 days’ (August 27). Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, a senior minister of the provincial government of Sindh, is infamous for his strange antics and hysterical outburst which always culminate in regrets and apologies to whoever he may have slighted. However, this time around, Mirza has rightly termed the on-going surgical strikes in Karachi by the Rangers and police a “big drama”. The operations has been going on for the last five days but hardly any key individual involved in targeted killings in Karachi with established political or ethnic affiliation has been apprehended. The entire surgical operation seems a farce.

Mirza’s assertion that he can restore peace in the city in one month with the help of the Sindh police is interesting. The federal government should accede to his demands as we, the people of Karachi, would like to see nothing but peace in the city. Let Mirza prove his mettle and his administrative prowess.

With reference to ‘Mirza wants full powers for Sindh police, Malik’s detention for 15 days’ by Hamid Mir (August 27), I agree with Zulfiqar Mirza’s suggestion that the solution to Karachi’s law and order problem lies in the empowerment of the police force. Karachi doesn’t need another military operation. The government should listen to Mirza’s suggestions and empower the police to deal with criminals.

Calling the army into the commercial hub of Pakistan is no solution.

It is sad, but not surprising, that personal rivalries directly affect the decisions of national security in our country. For example, take the recent tussle between Zulfiqar Mirza and Rehman Malik. The fate of the city revolves around the personal whims of two PPP members. Over 100 people have lost their lives in the past one week in Karachi, but whether the government will have a head-on confrontation with different mafias, as Mirza suggested, or it will adopt a policy of “reconciliation,” as per Malik’s proposal, is still unknown.

If there are some criminals in Lalukhet that does not mean all people living there are bad.

It is the area which gave shinning people to Pakistan who were world renowned - Hanif Khan, Islahuddin, Mumtaz Haider - all world class hockey players; Sabri Brothers - the famous qawals, hundreds of Colleges and University professors - many scientists who then worked for atomic energy. Many engineers who turned Orient Airways into PIA and worked for shipyard and dockyard.

Some people here will always remain jealous.

KARACHI: During a seven-hour operation in the Lyari area, Rangers arrested more than a dozen suspected criminals on Sunday, DawnNews reported.**
**The Rangers also destroyed two torture cells and seized a heavy cache of weapons.
The Rangers cordoned off the Nayabad area of Lyari early **in the morning and launched a door-to-door search.
As soon as the operation was launched, residents of Lyari started protesting against the raids and blocked the roads, however, the Rangers continued the search.
The head of Sachal Rangers, Brigadier Waseem Ayub also visited the area with media persons and briefed them with the details of the operation.
Separately, it was also reported that PPP senior leader Dr Zulfiqar Mirza may resign from his party post in protest against the operation conducted by the Rangers in Lyari this morning.
Sources said that Mirza would later hold a press conference to announce his decision.

btw talking abt those torture cells ... few of our family friends who ran off here cuz of mqm fear!! told us long ago, abt their torture chambers in basements and all that!!
it was quite disturbing to hear wht humans are capable of doing ...
