PPP merge with PML (merged)

Well the PPP-P “Patriots” actually.

PPP merge with PML

The Pakistan Peoples Party faction headed by Rao Sikandar Iqbal Friday announced to merge into Pakistan Muslim League (PML) and contest next general elections from the PML platform. The announcement was made by PPP Chairman Rao Sikandar Iqbal at the residence of Minister for Environment, Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Chief Whip in National Assembly Sardar Nasarullah Dreshak and other party officials were also present. “Our merger with the PML will have positive impact,” Rao Sikandar said announcing the merger and foresaw a majority win in the forthcoming general elections. “I also appeal to other like minded factions to join the PML and support the policies of President general Pervez Musharraf,” he said. He said the decision has been made to ensure continuity of the policies of President Pervez Musharraf and to further strengthen the country and ameliorate the lot of people.

**Some members of erstwhile PPPP (Patriot) have already joined the PML with remaining 10 members of National Assembly and certain number of Provincial Assemblies members coming to the PML fold on Friday. Those who joined PML include Federal Ministers Rao Sikandar Iqbal, Chaudhry Nouraiz Shakoor, Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat, Dr Sher Afgan Niazi, Minister of State, Raza Hayat Hiraj and MNAs Aamar Yar Waran, Azhar Yusufzai, Zaheer Abbas Khokhar, Asad Murtaza Gillani and Faiz Tamman. ** Prime Minister Sahukat Aziz described it a ‘historic day’ and hoped, the decision will have positive impact on the country and the national politics. “They remained committed as productive coalition members and I never felt that they belonged to a different party,” he said. He appreciated their role in national politics as the coalition partner of Pakistan Muslim League and said, their merger will further strengthen Pakistan Muslim League. “I welcome them to PML and we shall contest the next general election from one platform,” Shaukat Aziz said. He said the voters are wise and the PML alongwith its other allies will secure thumping majority in next general elections.

Re: PPP merge with PML

Is that good?

Re: PPP merge with PML

WTH.

Re: PPP merge with PML

It does not make much difference in terms of political loyalties anyway, as these people have been allied to the PML since 2002.

What is interesting is that they merged with the PML straight after rumors flying around that Rao Sikandar Iqbal had met Benazir in Dubai. Did she give them the green signal? She certainly has snubbed Nawaz over his All Parties Circus (APC) plan, so maybe this is another indication of that oft-talked about deal with the President-General?

Patriots join PML-Q sans Sherpao

These guys were already supporting the ruling party so will their formal announcement to join PML-Q make much difference to the political scene?

Patriots join PML-Q sans Sherpao](Geo News: Latest News Breaking, Live Videos, World, Entertainment, Royal)

ISLAMABAD: Parliamentarians belonging to Pakistan Peoples Party-Patriots (PPP-Patriots) Friday finally reached the already-predicted and much-awaited conclusion that there is no other better platform for them except Pakistan Muslim League (Q) to earn a new lease of their political life.

In a belated decision, of four and a half year, the Patriot Group announced to join PML-Q. The announcement to this effect was made in the presence of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in a crowded press conference at the PML House here.

Senator Mushahid Hussain and other PML-Q leaders were also present on the occasion.

Those who joined the ruling party include Dr Sher AfganKhan Niazi, Raza Hayat Hiraj, Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat, Ch Norez Shakoor, Rao Sikandar Iqbal, Sardar Faiz Timmon, Azhar KhanYousafzai, Asad Murtaza Gillani, Zaheer Abbass Khokhar and Aamer Hayat Waran. Besides these MNAs, four MPAs of the Patriot Group including Sardar Manzoor Khan Panwar, Syed Manzor Hussain Shah,Abdur Razzaq Mehr and Asia Tariq also announced to join the PML-Q ranks.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said that the Patriots have got into a fusion with the PML-Q. " Patriots are now the members of the Pakistan Muslim League.
They are the leaguers now. We will move forward shoulder by shoulder for the general elections to ensure party success", the PrimeMinister said. He further said that his party will take part in the coming general elections with a new spirit.

PML-Q President Ch Shujaat Hussain speaking on the occasion welcomed the new entry and lauded their decision as timely and wise one. He appreciated the efforts of the Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz who took personal interest in making the Patriots reach this decision.

Re: PPP merge with PML

there are no parties in Pakistan only group of people in different clads but same moto, and there are no real objective but only to stay in power, by hook or crook.

people or stronger than parties, so parties become meaningless.

good for government party/group as they assume. they can be joined and they can always be scattered when required or where their own motives seem to met.

Re: PPP merge with PML

That's true.

  • Abida Hussain and husband Fakhar Iman make peace with their long time and sworn bitter enemy Benazir Bhutto and join her PPP-P.
  • Former Prime Minister Balkh Sher Mazari joins PPP-P- as well.
  • Mian Azhar, the original leader of the PML “Q” rejoins the Shujaat-led party.
  • Almost all the late Nawab Bugti’s Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) elected parliamentarians join the PML.
  • Three of Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan’s sons join the PML.

Now just after supposedly meeting Benazir Bhutto in Dubai, Rao Sikander Iqbal merges his breakaway PPP-P (“Patriots”) with the PML. This coupled with the fact that Benazir has in no certain terms humiliated Nawaz Sharif by refusing to attend his long talked about APC in London shows that finally things are afoot.

The “big” political personalities want some share of power and they are coalescing around the 2 big parties ahead of the 2007/08 elections.
