ISLAMABAD: The preparation of the constitutional package aimed at restoration of judges and legal reforms has entered final stages of completion.
Reconstitution of Election Commission, modus ope***** for re-instatement and removal of judges, and redefining of president’s powers are the major changes likely to be introduced through 18th amendment of the Constitution.
The date for presenting the constitutional package before the Parliament will be decided tomorrow (Tuesday), sources close to the Pakistan People’s Party said. PPP is confident that Pakistan Muslim League-N will also support it on the planned steps, sources added.
The sources also said that the 18th amendment may be tabled in the Parliament before the federal budget, delaying the presentation of annual budget.
The 18th amendment will be a greater one compared to the 8th amendment of the Constitution.
It has been learned that the Federal Minister for Law, Farooq H. Naek and Draftsman for Law Ministry, Hakim Ali Khan held a four hour long closed door meeting for preparation of the amendment.
Even if they decide to leave Mush till Bush is gone from office, they will reduce him to a powerless figurehead, unable to wreak havoc upon Pakistan as he has the last 9 years
