Progress in seat adjustment between PPP, JUI (F)

KARACHI: There has been some progress in connection with seat adjustment between Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F)and Pakistan Peoples Party. This was stated by Secretary General JUI (F), Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidery while talking to Geo TV.

He said in the first phase JUI will field its candidate from Larkana while PPP will nominate its candidate from DI Khan. For seat adjustment, in this regard, the second line leadership of both the parties will hold further negotiations.

Yes, JUI (F) are still very much part the MMA, but flying their own flag as such.

PPP, JUI-F hold talks over seat adjustments

The Pakistan People’s Party and the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F on Thursday held a series of meetings with regard to adjustment of seats both at national and provincial levels. The talks headed by PPP Sindh President Syed Qaim Ali Shah and JUI-F Sindh President Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro were part of negotiations to reach mutual consensus on adjustment of seats in the upcoming general elections.

A PPP delegation headed by Makhdoom Amin Fahim met Maulana Fazl-ur-Rahman on Wednesday in Peshawar and asked him for seats’s adjustment in all the four provinces or at least in Sindh. In Thursday’s interaction, the PPP side asked the JUI-F to withdraw candidate from NA-207 Larkana, while the JUI-F sought the PPP to withdraw candidate from DI Khan. Both parties would respond to each other’s demands after mutual consensus. Meanwhile, the JUI-F gave its priority list to the PPP containing 10 national and 18 provincial constituencies in Sindh, asking the PPP to withdraw its candidates from all those seats. The National Assembly seats which were included in the priority list of the JUI-F were: NA-239 Karachi, NA-240 Karachi, NA-254 Karachi, NA-258 Karachi, NA-353 Karachi, NA-202 Shikarpur, NA-209 Jacobabad, NA-211 Nausheroferoze, NA-215 Khairpur, NA-238 Thatta. The provincial assembly seats which were included in the priority list were: PS-90 Karachi, PS-91 Karachi, PS-97 Karachi, PS-102 Karachi, PS-113 Karachi, PS-118 Karachi, PS-124 Karachi, PS-128 Karachi, PS-11 Shikarpur, PS-15 Jacobabad, PS-16 Kashmore, PS-21 Nausheroferoze, PS-27 Khairpur, PS-34 Khairpur, PS-37 Larkana, PS-41 Qambar-Shadad Kot, PS-44 Mutiari, PS-86 Thatta. In response to the priority list given by the JUI-F, the PPP said it had convened the meeting of its provincial executive committee, and would respond in three days.
