Power

“With great power comes great responsibility.”

Uncle Ben said that to Peter Parker some time before he died. Do you agree with that statement? What do you do with people then who are nothing but power hungry and abuse that power to however they see fit?

Re: Power

I thought uncle bn cooked rice

Re: Power

; ) i like power puff girls becuase they know what to do and how to do to bring peace.

Re: Power

People usually just like to enjoy the power without realising that they will are responsible for whatever power that have been handed over to them. Our leaders don't see their responsibilities and only use their power to make their lives better. Hazrat Umer said during his period of Caliphate: If a dog dies hungry on the banks of the River Euphrates, Umar will be responsible for dereliction of duty. But when we look at our leaders, they don't seem to be bothered by their responsibilities but only enjoying their power.

When people are power hungry, they should show that they deserve such power. They should be knowledgeable or elder in age or status or have acquired the power through any legitimate means in order to exercise the power. But then, the best person is the one who understands that he is responsible for the power he has and should not misuse his power.

Re: Power

yes , responsibility comes…but the question is…who decides what constitutes responsible behaviour…the people who are under the powerful person or those who are above the powerful person…:chai:

Re: Power

Speaking of Pakistan, Getting power these days means that forget the responsibilities and just destroy every thing that comes in your way.

Re: Power

what I have heard of power is that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. makes more sense to me.

Re: Power

Re: Power

i will quote Hazrat Umar RA here and one can see the correlation between responsibility and power.

"If a dog dies hungry on the banks of the River Euphrates, Umar will be responsible on the day of judgment for dereliction of duty.
—(Umar RA)

Re: Power

OMG I haven't watched that for years, I always wanted to be the bubbles the blonde one. Ah the good ole days.

Re: Power

The one above.

I love this quote because its so true in almost every aspect of life. Power doesnt necessarily mean being a political leader or head of state. It could mean being someone in power in your family, of influence in society or even a religious figure. When you are given any sort of power or influence, you automatically become burdened with the responsibility to use it wisely.

The people below might not know any better so wont question you…but the ones above will know. And yes, there does come a day in everyone’s life when they are held accountable.

Re: Power

you destroyed the meaning of my post through power of your words :)
