its the primary source of fuel in Paksitani villages.. even many have tried bio-gas but hasnt been so successful.. though natural gas has reached most parts of country and is very cheap .. still in large majority of rural population its still major source of fuel for cooking.. walls in villages are pasted with these cow dung cakes or patties..

I have always wondered how they make the cows crap on the wall like that?

^--and some abstract art that is..now ain't it?

'Energy in the making' as some would call it

They take cow dung, should be fresh not dried. make balls of it and throw them at the wall. It sticks to the wall and when its dried it is sold to households as fuel. I've seen ppl cooking with cow dung fuel it burns real easy because of methane.... They tried to make gas out of it by putting cow dung in a container and mixing with some chemical and water but it is not very successful.
There are places in India where they sell cow dung tooth paste and other stuff too.

i can't belive Abdali really answered that..

I was at my uncle's farm in Sindh once. I thought the buildings were made out of just mud, but then realised that it was in fact mud and cow dung. I stayed well away from the walls of buildings after that....

The scientist in me was aware that the surface would be hygienic and structurally very sound. The westerner in me was freaked out by the thought of touching crap.

It was in “toothpaste” context. … never mind
