Would any girl here accept a promising guy who can’t afford a gold ring?
Re: Poverty
I promise you. I will never marry a girl who expect a ring from me. ![]()
Re: Poverty
Why not?
If he is ambitious, educated, driven but is beginning his career - I'd snap him up.
My family is FULL of guys who started out with nothing when they got married (not even a car) but are doing very well now Alhumdulillah.
Don't look at what he is worth monetarily right now if he has a good future ahead of him. Often times, with a bit of support you can really make your place in his heart forever.
Re: Poverty
When my husband and I were getting married, we decided to get a promise ring until he settles into a job, etc. However, he just ended up buying me the real thing with whatever savings he had.
I misssssh him :(
So kuriyo and mundo, my advice on this valentine is to be sincere with your partner, love them, respect them, and respect the commitment you are making with them. Everything else will falls in its place. inshahAllah.
PS. Not being g able to buy a gold/diamond ring is/should not be defined as poverty.
Poverty
My husband couldn't afford a ring when we got engaged....my wedding ring was 14K with a CZ in it. By our first anniversary he replaced it wit a diamond. By our fifth anniversary I had more diamonds and jewelry then I knew what to do with.
Re: Poverty
i will...actually, i will prefer a poor girl over a rich girl. btw, a super duper rich girl is out of question for me...uske naaz naKhre kaun uThaayegaa?
Then you will never marry ![]()
Re: Poverty
ok may be a small ring would be ok.

i would say its poverty if a guy is not able to pay the bills or not able to buy even the groceries. And no, i will not marry this guy unless if he is someone i am head over heels in love with.
Re: Poverty
Some replies in this thread have restored my faith in humanity (read girls)!

Shukar Alhamdullilah!
But my real wealth/jewel is the Mr. The rest is all icing on the cake.
Re: Poverty
aha!! that makes sense. As long as he is there, you got constant supply. Don't kill the goose they say :p
I kid I kid. I am just jaylas. I can't expect to have a wife who would dish out bling for me and then love me too. You women have lot to be thankful about.

Practically speaking, No... I don't want to jeopardize my future.

Re: Poverty

Re: Poverty
When I got engaged my husband didn't have a penny (literally). Just mounds and mounds of debt . he was fresh out of grad school and couldn't afford a ring but he sold some stocks and scraped enough money to get me a diamond. I had told him I would wear a plastic ring and it didn't matter but he said it did. Its been 3 years and Ive never taken it off since. Its my most precious material possession.
I didn't care about money back then and I don't now. I loved him them and I love him now. He is smart , intelligent and his heart is made of gold. thats all the gold I need.
Re: Poverty
I must say that you are one of the lucky ones who is happy with just love... In practical life, you need money to support a family and feed ur kids good food.
