Potty training

At what age did you start potty training your child?

And at what age do you begin to leave them alone?

I was at someone’s house a few days ago and the 3 year old kid was coming out of the bathroom…he said “ummm I clean myself”. Don’t ask me why but I thought that was pretty impressive for a 3 year old.

Re: Potty training

as soon as possible...

Re: Potty training

IMO, when your baby start understand you.

Re: Potty training

i started at 4 months and she was able to tell me both no 1 n 2 before she turned 1.5 but then stopped to cooperate for abt 4-5 months ,then at 3 after doing no 1 she was able to wipe and wash herself, now at 5 she is ready to clean n wash herself after no 2 but im not ready to let her do it by herself.
n mashallah she has never had any accident at night, never, mashallah again.

Re: Potty training

at 4 months.....what did you do at 4 months ?

Re: Potty training

@ 4 months.. omg.. babies don't understand language that early let alone tell you anything.. how is that even possible?

Re: Potty training

This seems to be a typo or her is a baby genius . Leave her alone folks.

Re: Potty training

hmmmm fine ...I'm guessing she meant 14 months

Re: Potty training

yap at 4 months but it was with perfect harmony with her ped and it is TMI ALERT

............as weird n creul as it may sound but my daughter had a v strange habit ,ever since the day she was born she never wet or soil her diaper while sleeping n i was vvvv concerned ,doc asked me to monitor her wet diapers during the day but everything was normal n then she had v bad constipation ,so when she turned 4 her doc asked me to try n potty train her .When she used to wake up in the morning, i took her to her SEAT and used to say seeeeeeeeeeee or seyyyyyyyy ,after a while she understood what i was trying to do and as for her constipation i used to sit her between my legs and helped her push ,once in the morning after breakfast and once at night ,n believe me after justa month she got the hang of it and i was freed of poopy diapers.

Re: Potty training

Well Mirch what would you like to say now :halo:

Re: Potty training

I am impressed , flabbergasted , speechless and dumbfounded all at the same time.
My daughter was constipated as a baby and all her ped did was write a prescription , the medicine he prescribed was harmless and it is OTC now.
Her doctor , mother and baby are all geniuses. Mashallah.

Re: Potty training

well i had to take this extreme step coz i was realy worried abt her health ,i mean u have to do something when ur 3 month old baby doesnt poop for whole 8 days but alhumdulilah after that things got better

Re: Potty training

sometimes its hard to tell who is training who.

Re: Potty training

I don't think it's worth stressing about this stuff. You'll know when your kid is ready...somewhere around 2 years of age...

Re: Potty training

I was just curious.. (and impressed :D)

Re: Potty training

Was your baby breatfed....its actually quite normal for breastfed babies to go several day without a bowl movement....my doctor said not to worry until they get passed 10 days...but I'm glad it worked for you.

This concept is very new to me. I haven’t heard or read about it anywhere before. I am sure it requires a lot of hard work and dedication. Good going!
